Mod censoring things that are not inappropriate...people are going to get fed up with that kind of thing. If what I said was offensive why is it in the game?

It's technically NOT marriage. Not in ESO anyways. There has been talk of adding actual marriage into the game.

The Pledge of Mara is described in the lore as the bonding of two individuals for life. It technically isn't marriage, but rather a life partnership, usually on the foundation of mutual affection (love) (which is basically marriage, but without the complicated ceremonies and religious disputes). Nothing is stopping you from performing the ritual with a good friend, however if the implications are too much for you to handle, I would advise you to reconsider, or work on being a bit less sensitive to the opinions of others.

    I never used mine 'cause
    - a) I'm afraid the person I pledge myself to will quit and I lose the ring
    - b) after a certain point I prefer stats to xp
    - c) even if I used it, I'd feel constricted to only questing with that person, if theyre online ofc.

So, I'll probably use it on an alt that I want to level quickly, if I find a commited partner.

Got guildies and friends doing it all the time! They like to call the other friend their spouse. It's pretty funny sometimes :)

I wouldn't read too much into it really /shrug It's more about the bonus XP when playing together anyway. As long as you guys play a lot together, go for it.

    a) happened to me and I want a divorce
    b) then just change rings. You will be ok
    c) it's just a bonus to xp

We called it marriage, since I play a cute girl and he plays an ugly thing of man, and that jerk stopped playing!

    I want a divorce!!!

My husband and I have characters that are a married couple so it worked perfectly. He used his ring so I still have mine. We figure we'll eventually do a new couple, maybe a different race and faction, some day in the future, and do the ring with them.

    Rings of Mara = useless.

Oh and in Bangkorai is a homosexual married couple, featuring an NPC named Draven who has a problem; he and his husband need your help.

I guess this means ESO is a politics arena where they make points about their political leanings in-game? I am surprised no religious "censor it all" groups have come out in droves protesting this MMO.

@Soloeus... I don't think it's a political statement. I think it's a reflection of the fact that same sex relationships are just NOT A BIG DEAL.

Especially since most of the main quest you cant be with your best friend.. why have this item when it will not be useful.

Uh, actually I think it would be more "political" or "religious" to NOT have same-sex couples, wouldn't it?

What possible reason would you give for NOT having them that isn't political or religious?

I have not used my ring yet, I have no idea how or who to use it with. I don't play every day and when I do it's random. I'm probably not the best partner out there to use the ring with.

I married some stranger I met in one of my guilds and we went on to become a zombie-grinding, leveling-machine duo.

Fast forward a month and now all he wants to do is sit at home and craft. Gah.

Agreed. I have to slap my hand going through zone chat in Bangkorai because all too often somebody will start gay bashing that couple. Sometimes I don't slap my hand and go ahead and get into a flame war over it, but then it becomes a big deal whether I want it to or not.
It's funny because the big issue around that couple is not their homosexuality but the fact that one of them is a werewolf.

It isnt a big deal, to each their own. But when its thrown in the face of other people who do think its a big deal. Then it becomes one. The problem with these types of people is they want their cake and eat it too.. "Dont offend me I want my rights but you cant have yours"

The ring is useless to me. The person I played with quit the game so now it takes up space in my bank. Honestly these one time items better be changed to always be available to characters. It's one of the reasons why this game has become so hated. Spend so much money on one time items you permanently lose if you delete. Whether by design or not its a pretty *** system and no other MMO I know does that.

Infact most are account bind, ZOE taking a progress step backwards in a genre for more money.

You can try to walk on eggshells around this but they aren't fooling anyone.... Its a marriage. Just like magicka....everyone knows its mana...its even blue. Dont live your life avoiding things with crap excuses just because they fit your point of view or lifestyle. This is part of an agenda.

Again, to each their own. But IMO this sort of thing should be a more generalized thing not something that COULD be offensive to someone. Just like using the term "gay" could be offensive to someone as stated in the TOS. Conformation bias is hilarious.
