Is the Buffer of The Swift 5pc Set Bonus Bugged

I just put on the 5 piece set and I love the proc rate, the shield comes up constantly against 1 sabercat. The problem is the shield did not stop any damage, my hp kept getting hit through it then the shield would go away after 5 seconds. So I am wondering if the shield only blocks damage from other players, if someone has tested it. The set can be seen here, the 5 piece bonus reads as such "Chance to gain a 300 point damage shield for 5 seconds when damaged".

    In general about damage shields, they do not stop all damage, but mitigate a portion of it and let some through to be mitigated by armour. It might be that it mitigates 300 of the damage but the overflow will hit you in full.
    If you can compare a hit with and without the shield active you can see this in action.
    That or Im way off.
    Attention Zenimax: Stamina builds don't hold up to magicka builds, and this is causing most of your class imbalance. It makes melee weapons and bows weaker than staves and class abilities. It makes medium and heavy armor less desirable than light armor. Fix this imbalance, and you'll address most of your balance issues.

    300 is not a lot of damage absorption in veteran areas. I stopped using Annulment / Harness Magicka when it would get consumed in just a single, normal attack which also was about 300 damage shield. While a shield is up, it doesn't appear to take your armor and spell resists into account instead it would absorb damage as if you had zero armor/resists which applies to whatever damage you take after the shield has been depleted.

    I now use Shielded Assault, it reduces less damage overall than Annulment, but its built into a charge attack that is easier and faster to cast, no delay animation, while using a completely different resource.

    I seem to remember people saying in another thread that there is a lot of known issues / bugs with damage shields. I can't remember the exact details though, if it was specific to item set shields not working properly or just damage shields in general.

    The problem with absorb shields is that damage to them is calculated BEFORE armor/resistance and block.

    So, let's say you have 30% armor, block the attack and have 300p shield, and get hit by an attack that deals 800 raw damage.

    800-300 = 500 - shield gets destroyed instantly, with 500 dmg still left.
    500*0.5 (+-, depends on what you block with and passives) = 250 dmg is left after block is calculated
    250*(1-0.3) = 175 dmg
    - so in just ONE hit, your whole absorb shield is gone, and you STILL get hit pretty hard.

    if it worked like in any other game (aka absorb is LAST in calculations, not first):
    800*0.5 = 400 dmg after block
    400*(1-0.3) = 280 dmg
    now 300 - 280 = 20
    - ENTIRE hit is absorbed, and you'll still have 20points of shield remaining on you.

    well, here is the deal: we STILL receive damage and the shield does not go down even a bit... either that damage shield actually only works for players, or it is being complete useless (the fact that damage shields are overall weak dont change the fact that we should see the damage shield going down slowly, as in fact happens with most damage shields in this game...)

    Bugged since Craglorn patch. Stopped using it after it got live.
