June 30th PC to Console deal- logic?

While I'm a PC player of the game I still don't understand why the $20 only applies to PC owners who purchase the PC game by June 30th. If your PC runs the game great why would you even consider buying the console game too?

The offer should have been to get the basic game on console for $20 to anyone who placed a console pre-order on or by June 30th.

For PC players who may try it out on the console the game should be 100% free but a $20 offer is also acceptable.
The character port is silly as I'm pretty sure it's a one way, one time offer. You can't send that character back so why not just copy the entire account? Not move, copy

I continue to ask players who is going to the console game and it seems like less than three people and I've been playing and asking since April. I'm sure that's just my experience as there are hopefully hundreds of thousands of players who plan to port at least one character over.

To me, It would make better sense if the game were free for PC customers (why are we encouraged to spend another $20 and after month one $20-$30/month to play PC and console.) This is a bit confusing as the companies position was to have two subscriptions if an owner chose to play on PC and console.

The direction of this is just getting more and more weird.
The final straw would be if the games don't run on the equivalent of all high settings at 1080p and at least 30-40 fps.

My almost 5 year old ASUS G72 runs it in 900p on high/ultra at 45 to 59 fps most of the time dropping to 20-25 fps in PvP.

Anyone care to share business logic on this. ?

I dont understand the logic in the pricing either, but the console release presents much more prevalent issues IMO.

    1) Console gamers generally dont pay subs. Many of them are kids with no credit cards of their own. This is why game time cards came about but most of them are like the F2P crowd and feel they shouldnt have to pay a monthly fee for a game they already bought.

    2) System limitations. PS4 and Xbox1 are brand new so this isnt too big of an issue yet, but down the road expansion wise we may find the consoles running into brick walls that PCs wouldnt, and how is that going to effect future content?

    3) As you mentioned is player-base. The only successful MMORPG I can think of in recent memory was Final Fantasy XI/XIV. I'm not sure about XIV but XI had all the players on the same servers regardless of the method of play. PC, PS3, Xbox all played together. With the above complications in addition to the games current problems (endgame, etc) I can see why they postponed the launches. After the initial rush the console servers would be pretty barren IMO.

Honestly I see it as a push for PC sales and potential subs. If I was someone looking to buy this for the console and saw this 'deal', I would be very leery without having seen gameplay for console, beta start date or a new release date.

I dunno, I think like any corporation / business there is greed.

Personally, in my honest opinion, I think ESO (the game itself) should be a FREE download with a monthly sub... Just like EvE Online. And I think if that happened, a LOT of new players would sub and try the game out (just like I did with EvE where I subb'ed for 6-months).

And, honestly, I think that WILL happen to ESO... but, due to greed, they (Zenimax) will try to milk every penny they can for their bottom line and over-paid execs. But that is how the world turns in the States and I'm really not bashing it as I am rolling my eyes.
To make ESO look and feel like a PC MMO check out the following:

I agree that corporate America is the breeding grounds for greed. It is hard to know in this instance though if that is indeed the case or if they are just trying to pay back investors.

I have always liked the free to download option some MMOs have offered as opposed to an upfront fee. I did the same thing with EVE and WoW pulled me back in once just before Cataclysm with a similar deal.

I like the offer. I was going to be playing the game on PC and then console when it came out. Now I can transfer my characters over so I don't have to start again from scratch and I'm only playing $20 instead of having to but the game twice.

Had always planned on playing on console long term so doesn't bother me that it is a one time transfer. No different from a lot of games that offered the same thing with transfers from previous console generation to current generation at the time of the new consoles coming out.

There was also DCUO which is still a very popular MMO on console although that one is currently F2P.

It is apparently currently running at 30 fps. Not sure about 1080p or not.

I play here and will be playing on Xbox one also. Fresh start tho. No transfer.

So I can game on the couch, of course. And I suspect it might play better on a console.

Easy answer, more friends on console.

I'm at a conundrum. I like to chat, so rely on the keyboard. I just bought a new logitech gamepad and mouse. But my PC is older and needs replaced (only dual core with 4gb of ram, no ability to improve).

That said, I love the new xbox one controller. As a whole the one is more capable than my PC. And I have lots of friends who play xbox still and I rarely see them anymore due to ESO.

It's a tossup for me, really.
Ruze Aulus. Mayor of Dhalmora. Archer, hunter, assassin. Nightblade.
Gral. Mountain Terror. Barbarian, marauder, murderer. Nightblade.
Na'Djin. Knight-Blade. Knight, vanguard, defender. Nightblade.

    XBOX NA
Ruze is a veteran of the PC Beta, lived through the year one drought, survived the buy-to-play conversion, and has stepped foot in the hells known as Craglorn. He mained a nightlbade when nightblades weren't good, and has never worn a robe. He converted from PC during the console betas, and hasn't regretted it a moment since.

He'd rank ESO:TU (in it's current state) a 4.8 out of 5, loving the game almost entirely.

This is an multiplayer game. I should be able to log in, join a dungeon, join a battleground, queue for a dolmen or world boss or delve, teleport in, play for 20 minutes, and not worry about getting kicked, failing to join, having perfect voice coms, or being unable to complete content because someone's lagging behind. Group Finder and matchmaking is broken. Take a note from Destiny and build a system that allows from drop-in/drop-out functionality and quick play.

Ok. Guess I'll roll a new toon for the console and see what the Xbox One version shows as.

For anyone who will be on xbox one I'm NewBlacksmurf
I'm sure they will have leaked info like all other console games. Hoping for the best but I won't be sending but one character over.

They are still saying they will do a beta. I expect it will just be a stress test beta but should at least give you an idea of what it will be like.

I just re-read your first post about transfer character rather than account.

We are a bit light on on the details of what exactly is being transferred. Although support at ZOS seem to be saying it is a one time transfer and that once you transfer you will not be able to play on the PC anymore from that account. So it sounds like it is an account transfer rather than just a character transfer.

I hope we get confirmation soon of what exactly is being transferred.

I really hope the keyboard functions 100% as its supported on both consoles. I noticed mice are supported on the PS4 for one or two MMO games to come so maybe we will see come interesting capabilities.

The BIGGEST draw for me if the voice chatting that is missing from PC. I know there are other work-arounds but I'd like the game client to support voice chat so I'll hope for the best console experience.

This is interesting for me because it would mean the only triple AAA MMO out there to do a cross plateform transfer. But it would also mean that many people who decide to play this game will be pissed off at the bugs.

Lets face it, 15 dollars is premium pay for this game and there are already other console MMO's that are free 2 play and many have invested far more time into. I typically hate console gaming because they aren't really designed for extended gameplay and I play most games half a day at one sitting if its interesting. I remember spending a 23 hours for completing both Wolfienstien new order and Watchdogs on two individual runs and was worried that I may have ended up burn the consoles I played them on. How is that going to work for a game like this?

Especially when most have poured so much money already into this game and it turns out the console version can't run it like a PC when they switch over? It's to risky and fool hardy for ZOE to keep charging for extras on a game that clearly for PC population has been a charged open beta.

The PS4 and Xbox One in my experience work better than a PC as far as performance and interaction. Now I'm not suggesting either console has more graphical or CPU power but performance and experience as the only difference is gamepad support.

Now I have played TESO with my xbox 360 controller since BETA in November 2013 along with a keyboard. The console is actually set up to provide a better experience...well thats IF the developers choose to leverage what available.

I think the Xbox servers tend to be more stable than Zennimax and looking at the titles I've played on the PS4 that my friends own, their server experience for online play has been above par as well..

Hours gaming...not sure if you play console often but more people play consoles longer than PC gamers as in length of time per session.
Most of the top AAA games on PC are all on these new consoles and have better experiences by design unless your stuck on resolution and FPS.

Sitting on a couch playing TESO which is how I play via an HDMI out to my stereo and 55 inch TV works great on a wireless controller and wireless mini keyboard. BUT its missing voice chat, and for me the xbox one allows many other benefits that the PC just cant offer without shelling out extra money or buying more hardware and crap sitting all over my desk.

We all have preferences but finally the consoles can offer great experiences comparable to a PC. Funny enough my PC maxes at where the xbox one and PS4 start so an 4 year old high end gaming laptop gets old fast.

We will see...if the experience isn't awesome, I will be here and then fade away over time. There are a couple of really fun console games coming this summer/fall.

I may eat my words when we get closer to December 2014..<insert sad face>
