Typically players will see "missing" boxes when the graphics haven't loaded properly. If the boxes aren't bothering you or you're not seeing them too often, feel free to chuckle at them and move on. If you'd like to see what should be there or you're seeing an excessive amount of boxes, using /reloadui (as @AlexDougherty mentioned) may allow the graphics to properly load.
If /reloadui doesn't help, turning off the grass may (Settings > Video > Grass off). Keep in mind that if your graphics are running at a higher setting than recommended, you will see issues like the missing boxes, falling through stairs, and getting trapped in rocks.
It wouldn't be having a better system than recommended that would cause this - it would be running the game on higher settings than recommended for your system. If the game thinks that your system should be running on low settings, but you choose to switch to high, then if this is an issue with graphics not loading properly, this could easily pop up.goochpuckett wrote: »can I ask why having a better system than recommended would cause these issues? just out of curiosity of course because I suffer from black screen crashing and do not have exactly recommended settings anyways. I run on minimum settings as you may notice from my screenshot anyways, my computer is great for everything but eso seems to need better hardware than most games that haven't even been released yet lol.

I play this game on an HP slimline because lets face, not everyone can afford a $2000 gaming machine. I run a mid range GFX card from Zotac which isn't anything special and I'm still able to run ESO on full mid settings smoothly. The only difference is I properly maintain this machine as getting a new one would definitely hurt my wallet.goochpuckett wrote: »my computer is great for everything but eso seems to need better hardware than most games that haven't even been released yet lol.
This is quite a statement, newer games tend to require more for performance, that's how it has always been, and how would you know about what is required to run them, typically a game that hasn't been released yet will perform on lower end PCs just because that was what was available during development, but as games develop, so does its software, and the tech world moves fast so by the time the game is released, the specs required to run it might have changed all together.

you should have someone who's qualified, troubleshoot your graphics card and motherboard.
Different games stress different areas of various components. black or blue screens = hardware errors. Could be any 1 of a thousand different reasons.

There is a small chance that the file on the download server is damaged, so everyone got a damaged file when patching/repairing. But those are the big exceptions.ferzalrwb17_ESO wrote: »I was in a group and everyone saw the "missing" boxes. Everyone not in the group at this area saw them.
