Day 9 and I Haven't Rage-Quit Yet! What's Wrong with Me?

Dear TESO,

Just another quick note to tell you I'm still not regretting my purchase of your game, or the Imperial upgrade and Explorer's Pack. Last night saw me finally complete all the achievements on Khenarthi's Roost and so now I'm on my way to Auridon.

I'm honestly
amazed by the amount and quality of the content and writing which has been integrated into this game. I love how some NPCs are just there to talk to, interact with, or listen to - adding a level of depth that's missing from other games. The three mercenaries in Mistral, for example. The Dominion representatives spreading their propaganda to the residents of Khenarthi's Roost. Nervous lovers and sneaky skooma dealers. The list goes on and on. There's a wealth of immersive material here that would go unnoticed if I just rushed through the game to get to the next level.

The best thing is that many of these conversations have nothing to do with me, the player. In fact, I love how the world isn't about ME. It's about them, because this is their home. And when I finally do save Khenarthi's Roost, and some of the NPCs start talking about me, it seems more immersive, more natural - and more of an accomplishment.

I can tell that someone put a lot of work into all of this content. I just thought you ought to know it's appreciated!

Me. :)

P.S. My dual-wielding Nightblade is still holding her own. In fact, I opened the skills menu before logging off last night and noticed I had 3 skill points I still hadn't committed yet, so at Level 8, I'm not underpowered. Of course, towards the end, my enemies were several levels beneath me ...

At level 8 after 9 days, I think you'll have fun for quite a while at that pace (that kind of sounds like a jab, but it's not).

P.S. Not everyone hates vet content. Although I guess around here that's the equivalent of liking peanut butter on pickles.

What a well written piece of propaganda. The post script at the end was an especially nice touch.

This would not be so shiver inducing had it been written here within the first few weeks of launch.

The game is beautiful from levels 1 through 50. If you are enjoying Khenarthi's Roost, the rest will floor you. :|

The first fifty levels are wonderful - Content flows well with a minimal amount of grinding ,and if you seek out all the quests... you will find yourself outleveling things somewhat quickly. Within the first half hour of my first character (Also a nightblade) I figured out how to one shot virtually any non boss NPC as an opener (Bow + Ambush from sneak)

The question is one of scaling, with full purple+ gear at VR5+ or so, mudcrabs can 2-3 shot you if you are anything but a tank.

    Mudcrabs.

Enjoy the ride, take it slow, and don't rush through leveling, they may have it fixed by the time you are leveled enough to see what everyone is complaining about. :P

You know, I started to make this mega long list of everything bad and why people are quitting in their droves.

Then I realised like a lot of those fanboys who caused the devs to ignore everything that was said in beta and why the game is in the state it is, its pointless.

As long as you are happy, that's all that matters, as it's your money after all!

Also, on the last day of the beta, some of us gathered in a town and started playing instruments, and guards actually stopped by, watching us for some time, then returned to their duty, it was awesome!

ESO is pretty awesome at low levels, by all means. The whole 1-50 adventure is pretty satisfying regardless of class / build, more or less.

And then... "VR content" hits you in the face like a meteor. Especially if you happen NOT to be a "Harry Potter". But who knows, maybe (and hopefully) things will be different by the time you get there.

I miss that feeling that was there in open beta. There was so much more of community atmosphere because gold, leveling, gear, ect. just didn't matter. We weren't spread out all over the map because of levels either.

I hope at some point Zos will look into creating some weekly/monthly events in game that bring people and guilds together. Not necessarily reward related but just something interesting everybody would want to check out.

I totally agree with you and I loved every minute of my leveling from 1-50 and even 1 or 2 of the veteran ranks, however after grinding out 12 veteran ranks I can truly say I find it hard to get motivated into logging in anymore.
I never thought I'd do it so close after launch but I've canceled my sub as I feel I'm paying to play a Beta.

I will be back as the game is great in so many ways but with huge flaws in the classes forcing me to have to either roll cloth or get kicked from groups I cannot see where I am playing the way I want to play.

So glad your enjoying this game so much, I just wish I could find the same enthusiasm.

Good to see you're enjoying the game. Sorry to see some people apparently can't stand to see that and have to bring in comments about how you'll hate it later.

People seem to forget that different people have different tastes. Just because they dislike something doesn't mean everyone else will, or that everyone else should. People generalizing your post as saying the game is perfect, simply because you're expressing that you're having fun where you are is really just as bad as folks telling others to quit because they disliked one aspect of the game.

It's a game, and what's important at the end of the day is that you're having fun. That holds true whether you're a new player, old player, quick content consumer, or someone that likes to take their time. Folks shouldn't be trying to drag others down just because their experience was different.
