My feedback for ZOS on the Veteran Rank difficulty

I have to say my experience in ESO has been good. While leveling to 50, I did find it very easy and I wasn't fond of continuing to skip quests as they were always being greyed out unlike how it was in PvP. I did enjoy a lot of the unique quests, I found them fun and enjoyed many parts of PvE including dungeons, the environment, crafting and the loot. I'm one for challenges and enjoy them in the accomplishment in itself. For example, I found being in the rift at level 20 and killing mobs exciting. Increased difficulty in levels 1-50 would be a bonus and with that said coming to the veteran content is just to difficult too enjoy. Sometimes even running through and just using filled soul gems repeatedly seems like the better idea and it seems the core philosophy has been lost in the veteran content or just not extended to it, when clearly it is suppose to be. This would need to change to have me resubbed and I see I'm not the only one with this problem and do hope the fix comes soon as I would love to get back into the game. Hearing experienced long time MMO gamers say it was a challenge and telling players to learn to play makes me feel the game was designed only for the experienced long time MMO gamers and not the wider audience as the game seemed to be announced for everyone. I was planning to be into this game for the long term but now may not be.

Here is the quote from you own web site.
"One of the core philosophies of The Elder Scrolls Online is to allow you to play the way you want. You’ve probably heard us say it or experienced it for yourself: equip any weapon, wear any armor, choose from a myriad of skills, pick your role, make choices in quests, ignore certain quests and just explore, etc. The idea is that these choices tie you more to your character, and respect that you might want to play differently from one day to the next. Many times, I’ve heard people discuss how they like to solo, others like to “raid,” and another group likes to PvP, so we know gamers never fit into neat categories.
However, many people who have become attached to their character want to see how their character would perform in a variety of situations or game modes. This is part of the reason we don’t have PvP gear and PvE gear, and also the reason we embrace being able to pick and max out more than a handful of skills. We’ve tried to avoid the danger of compartmentalizing and labeling certain players by acknowledging that circumstances change for people day-to-day. On Monday you might feel like playing alone, and Tuesday you might feel like working with friends on a dungeon. Whatever your motivation, you should be able to go do the thing you want without a lot of barriers.
This is the philosophy behind the core systems of ESO—play the way you want to play—and it extends to our veteran content."

You may want to be more specific in your critique.

How, specifically, have you not been able to play the way you want?

you,ll be told to learn to play. by a number of clowns who don't understand the diffrence between physically being unable to do vet mode as opposed to finding the level of difficulty just not enough fun to make you choose to plow on.

compare vet mode to dark souls 2 which i,m playing now cos my vet 12 templar is parked till they fix it.

dark souls 2 is very tough , mistakes get punished with death every time. the fundamental diffrence is when you kill the big bad boss you just died to you get rewarded with a huge amount of souls and a boss weapon.

you feel your character getting more powerfull in terms of gear and stats constantly. you can build the type of char you want and still feel powerfull enough to do the game.

NOW eso vet mote... you progressively feel weaker. you find you have less and less options in how to kill the tough mobs.. when you kill the delve/quest boss you just struggled through 10 trash packs to reach, you get 5 gold and nothing usefull.

and they wonder why folk loose motivation to continue

I agree, heck there were a few solo quests in the 1-50 zones i had to wait til i was about 10 levels above to be able to even complete,so imagine my surprise when i wind up on the shores Vet rank 1 and have a single mud crab kill me in about 2 seconds,i am vet 12 now and two level 2 mud crabs can kick my butt just as easily as the one could in vet level 1...like a lot of us i had to grind in a group to even achieve vet 12 so that i was physically able to solo the vet 1 content....

its like the whole vet content is only intended for groups and unfortunately because it is so hard to get anything done there hardly anyone attempts it in most classes so it makes it very hard to find a group to do anything in,seems most people just start the game over with a new character to play the 1-50 again or they sit in the vet areas farming for money,,this is no way to keep players and subs up..

i think the whole point of reaching a higher level like vet has been lost on zen..in any game ever....you reach higher levels so that you can feel more powerful and feel like all that work you did was worth the time and effort and not feel like you have to avoid every enemy on the screen because they are going to use up all your soul gems and hammer on your armor costing you thousands in gold..

personally i think the vet ranks blow and need to be totally overhauled so that people can/will actually play them again and while im sure there is likely a class that is able to solo in these areas i like many people do not have one as of yet,i feel weaker now then i did at level 1 first starting the game but instead im at the highest vet level trying to solo the lowest level vet content..something does not add up here...

I haven't played Dark Souls 2 but I've finished Demon Souls and I'm currently doing a Dark Souls playthrough while I wait and see what happens with this game. I find that the Vet levels are on a whole different level than those games. Elder Scrolls is my favorite franchise and I actually thought a MMO version would be awesome but they seem to only want to cater to the elites. I got one of my friends who is a VR12, who also laughed at me saying learn to play, to roll an alt character and he got to VR1 and won't play it again.

Indeed... This is pretty much why I've given up on ESO.

The thing is, neither of these things are a problem on their own. But combined... Its just bad. Yes, enemies are hard! ZOS pound that in for effect in nearly every encounter! That's not so bad. But then you add the cost of dying on top of it and it just become a smack in the face every time you die. But then when you plan ahead and want to make it easier in a group... Want to help your friends? Lawl... That'll cost you even more because soulgems aint cheap. Its ridiculous in this game that its difficult and have such high costs for combat at the same time.

Its just not enjoyable. Its supposed to be a game, not an inventory management banking account game where you have to decide whether to revive a friend or buy a new pair of pants because its costly to do both.

The high maintenance cost of your character really make you wonder... why does it feel like this game is pretty much set up for a F2P cash store for quality of life stuff, except it doesnt have the cash store (oh did you die a couple of times? Pay 2,000 gold or 10 zosgems! Respec now, 30,000 gold or 100 zosgems!)? :\

Just wait and remember my words: If ESO will be released for consoles there will be no longer a subscription for playing. Then it will go completely to f2p (p2w!) because it still exists not even one game for consoles with a subscription model...

(If I made mistakes with my words: I am not a native english speaker ;) )
