OK, who does NOT hear this!?

Alright, I've already confirmed this happens with a few guildees so I know I'm not (that) crazy, but seriously... when you're idle, completely standing still, not doing anything, who DOESN'T hear a werewolf attacking!? I always look around, and there's no werewolf, but I still hear the sounds. And as cool as it would be for this to be a little feature that only werewolves experience (inner wolf etc.) I've heard it on a vampire alt as well. So please, tell me: who HAS NOT heard these noises when idle??

I always assumed there was fighting not too far off in the distance.

I don't know what you are talking about, but personally I haven't payed attention for it.

I'll try later and let you know what I experience.

Not a bug I'm experiencing. And I turned the music off completely. All I get are sound effects and ambiance.
Ruze Aulus. Mayor of Dhalmora. Archer, hunter, assassin. Nightblade.
Gral. Mountain Terror. Barbarian, marauder, murderer. Nightblade.
Na'Djin. Knight-Blade. Knight, vanguard, defender. Nightblade.

    XBOX NA
Ruze is a veteran of the PC Beta, lived through the year one drought, survived the buy-to-play conversion, and has stepped foot in the hells known as Craglorn. He mained a nightlbade when nightblades weren't good, and has never worn a robe. He converted from PC during the console betas, and hasn't regretted it a moment since.

He'd rank ESO:TU (in it's current state) a 4.8 out of 5, loving the game almost entirely.

This is an multiplayer game. I should be able to log in, join a dungeon, join a battleground, queue for a dolmen or world boss or delve, teleport in, play for 20 minutes, and not worry about getting kicked, failing to join, having perfect voice coms, or being unable to complete content because someone's lagging behind. Group Finder and matchmaking is broken. Take a note from Destiny and build a system that allows from drop-in/drop-out functionality and quick play.

I think I saw a UFO abduction scene in the distance once.

Or maybe it was just one of those little Oblivion gates that open on occasion and drop in a few sub-boss type enemies.

Hmm. I like the former over the latter. ;)

    Don't worry, you're not crazy.
You can occasionally hear it in Cyrodiil,
    sometimes a few other places.

Only those who have an extraordinary sense of hearing pick up on it though,
    nice job.

I believe it may have something to do with ambient localization,
a sound file that got left in the wrong place in some areas.
It's the only explanation I've been able to come up with.

RANSER YOU'RE MADMAN! IT'S TIME TO FINISH THIS!

That's what EVERYONE hears every time they enter Rivenspire's capital. Doubt it's gonna ever be fixed.

Never heard it, or at least, never noticed it. Does it happen everywhere? I might have to try it.

I hear it occasionally too. It doesn't happen often, so I can't really recall how many times it has happened, but it did happen yesterday and when it did, I remembered hearing similar errant sounds before, just not when and where.

I assumed it was normal as there are werewolves and wolves in Tamriel.

is this what you're talking about?

I contacted customer support about this, trying to figure out what it was and why it was happening, and after three or four days of them trying to get it to go away by asking me to repair my game and do a complete re-install, I finally got one of them to listen to that sound I recorded.

Needless to say, they didn't know why it was there either.

I never assumed it was werewolves, but it deff sounds like dogs fighting something.
And I hear it everywhere out in the world, in the several zones I've been in, all A.D.

I DID assume it was ambiant 'fill in the blank spot' noise to just be some form of background conflict sound.
STALKER used to have distant automatic weapons fire and the sound of men yelling as if to simutlate a firefight off 'over there' somewhere, I just figure this was the same conflict noise to set a mood.

edit for speeling. Didn't there used to be a working speel-check in forum?

The problem with society these days is that no one drinks from the skulls of their enemies anymore.
