Solution to empty vet group dungeons (instances)

V7 here and I opted not to jump on the V12 exp fast track for a variety of reasons. I’ve been playing through nearly all the content/quest/dungeons (vet and previous) and greatly enjoy a lot of it. I spend most of my time solo, with some grouping for PVE group dungeons, pvp, and the occasional especially challenging world boss or dolem. I don’t fall too far into any extremes in terms of my play style, play time, etc.

In ESO a lot of great value is being lost purely due to poor itemization. The veteran dungeons can be very fun, and challenging. I like them. What I don’t like is that I'm not incentivized to play any of them more than once. The only reason they get played once is to complete the quest and earn a skill point. For me this comes down to the *terrible* dungeon loot. I have no use for any of the item drops in the vet dungeons. Thankfully I’m not posting to complain, rather to suggest an easy to implement and effective solution.

Dungeon itemization should include v5, v10 and v12 versions of all the zone based item sets in epic quality. Item level based on the player level, set pieces that drop based on dungeon and boss. In other words the sets get partially split up but concentrated over a couple dungeons each. This gives plenty of new drops for all the boss mobs, and gives players (like me) the option to work toward specific set with a focused approach.

With this change I would actually want to play all those vet dungeons more than once. There are lots of great items in this game (and done with a different design than most MMO item models). The sets are a lot of fun and I’ve enjoyed combining them. Well done!

Please give me more options at more levels. This is the way to do it.

They could also use it as a means to add more flexibility to the set items.

For example, drops that are unique to VR instances that let you change an items motif, stat, or trait.

There are substantial game balance issues to consider with the last one in particular as well as some significant coding hurdles, but unique items like this would give a reason go back to the VR instances (or any other content that is solidly entertaining, but being ignored because it's currently disadvantaged by progression).

These sound like great ideas too! But I also agree more work on the dev side.

I like the idea of adding higher level and epic dropped versions of existing sets for a lot of reasons, many more than I discussed in my OP (where I focus on how easy it would be to do).

For example, it makes me feel a lot less... well epic, that I'm stuck with a v1 set and green jewelry if I want to run say Akaviri Dragonguard. Who wouldn't run a vet dungeon or multiple dungeons for v12 epic versions of their favorite set jewelry (and armor and weapons)? Come on!

Is everyone else happy with the vet group dungeon loot? What is the new dungeon bringing?
