At least you can beat Molag Bal.
Try being a Nightblade with all the broken skills and such. Can't do it. Keep trying but can't do it.

A Damage over time a skill, and the ability to run in a circle are all you need to beat Molag Bal. Do NBs have these things?

Yeah, first character I made was a medium armor, duel wield, nightblade and didn't have any problems with beating any of the main story, fighter's guild, and mage's guild. I think that was around the end of April.

So I've hit vr1 and have started going through the initial vr content and so far I am not having fun at all. What am I missing here?

It's taking an age to level and it's negating any reason to level an alt because I'd just be re repeating content. I just don't understand what the motivation is to go through the vr content, all I want to do is to get to end game and start getting some nice gear for group content.

The content is boring as we'll I've just defeated molar bal for atheist sake and now I'm back fighting crabs!

What am I missing here? I'm very close to canceling my sub :(

I think you are just spoiled by MMO´s of the past 10 years, mainly GW, WOW or SWTOR.

These games let you get to max level and then you grind dungeons for points that you then trade for gear so you can raid and there you do the same thing about three times until you reach HC.

ESO works totally different and either you adjust or you move on. You can not blame ZO for their idea´s to revive the MMO genre with more traditional content, its up to them how they make their MMO and they decided to not follow step into the footsteps of Blizzard or Arena net.

At ESO you get to max level (50) and afterwards you work on your Char and improve it. You will be able to get new skills, learn about the lore, do achievements or fight for your factions in pvp.

Besides that, you can also do dungeons or raids if you so desire.

You said that you don't know what the motivation is to develop a Char further and I tell you that I don't know what the motivation is, to not develop a Char past max level.

So what? Are you wrong or am I wrong?

In the end its all a matter of taste and if you don't like the game then you have the free choice to move somewhere else. WoW lost 5 million players since TBC, SWTOR lost about 500k - not every MMO is for everyone, but there will always be an MMO for someone.

It's a little premature to tell people to adapt or leave... The game is in a totally unfinished beta state (despite requiring a sub). Many of us love aspects of the game and envisioned playing it for months to years. The game is evolving and we are giving vital feedback so the Devs can improve the boring and tedious aspects of the game going forward. Feedback/Criticism is necessary to the success and longevity of any product or service.

This "well I'm happy with the game and anyone else that isn't needs to leave or find another game" is very childish and is getting tired.

I have a VR4 Templar and he is no longer fun to play. He dies more then my level 37 sorc. He is puny who likes to die constantly. The harder content is not fun and the ones in our guild, who claimed they liked it harder are not playing any longer. Guess the temper of trying to get something done wasn't so much fun. The rewards suck, too!

Well, here is an idea that worked for me.

You could go to craglorn, farm some levels and then return to vr content and do only the main quests and any other quests you find interesting. You wouldn't have to do this insane quest grinding if it bothers you, just play the ones you like.

Try being a Nightblade with all the broken skills and such. Can't do it. Keep trying but can't do it.

Stamina MELEE (no bows for me) based Nightblade here. All the passives of Assassination, only the top 2 skills of the tree plus the ultimate (3 of that tree on my bar). My second specialized tree skill is Dual Wield until whirlwind, again, all the passives. If anyone is having a hard time, it is me (made more tricky by the fact I play in 1st person view). When I would die against Molag Bal (and oh, did I die) the death recap kept suggesting I use Siphon or Agony.. you know those skills in the Siphoning tree that use magicka? Those ones I don't use? Yeah. It's even harder when you can't block because you're out of stamina.

Well, I made it against Molag Bal last night. Took lots of running around desperately dodging and waiting for stamina to build back up, but I did it. It was a VERY long fight. It's doable, it's just harder. I suggest you hang in there and gain more patience, pay more attention to your surroundings, use the rocks to your advantage as well.

If I can do it being stubborn and refusing to give into a magicka or ranged build, you can too. I have faith in you!

Ah, I was just having a bit of fun.

Yes, I feel exactly the same as you. I don't feel obsession dripping out of this game. I mean, it's beautiful, it's full of content, you can customize your character (at the beginning!) to a great extent.

I think we're bored b/c ESO is a cleverly presented themepark. It's like they asked themselves "what is the best we can take from yesterday's MMO's? Let's implement that!"

    For example:

Dolmens are fun. But once you do one, you've done them all. You know what's going to happen - stuff drops out. You fight it for a bit. Achievement. Then a few minutes later the same dolmen starts up again (why didn't we destroy the anchor point???).

Dungeons are fun. Then you realize that the maps repeat. So...you've been to this one before. And the next one, you are going to recognize.

Trap mechanics are slim. And repeat. And they're easy.

In fact, everything starts to feel like a repetition of what we've already done. The first time I saw new creatures I was like "Yes!!! New stuff - oh, wow, I can't wait to see how they keep adding new creatures as I level up!" And now it's "Huh...these ones look the same as the ones I just vanquished a while back. Oh, these vampires are just touched up zombies. I see." And so on .

I mean, today, I ran into a skeleton that claimed to be an Argonian - but no tail. And a human skull. Boooooooooooooooooriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing!
    _______________

TL;DR: yeah, bored. I want to have impact and change on the world. I want a dynamic world.

Long fights can be fun if they're a boss. And Molag Bal is the boss of bosses, so that's kind of cool.

Long fights totally suck when you're fighting VR trash mobs.

VR is there just to slow ppl down from reaching max level too soon (and so give devs more time to create more endgame content). That a few people exploited or grinded their way to VR12 too fast that they have nothing to do now, well, that's their problem, honestly.

I just wish VR has a sensible difficulty (when difficulty means TACTICS, not just a flat buff to mob's HP and damage to make them about 3-5x stronger than players in top gear).. but oh well, we should have known, especially after Skyrim (where difficulty slider also just meant +dmg+HP, not actually any better AI or new, surprising tactics..)..

For most builds (aka everything but light+resto/destro or 1h/s) VR is unbeatable, and even for those who could do it, it's not FUN. Not by a longshot. I've had more fun in WoW farming leather than killing stuff in VR zones to do quests.

Bombard (for the Titan army)+Funnel Health(to self heal if you don't like potions) is everything you need for the whole fight. Everything else can be done by simple running and blocking+bashing at the right moments.
