What 2 or 3 "can't do without" addons do you recommend for most players?

OK, there's a lot of addons out there. Some seem extremely functional--like those that improve the bank ui, or add info about your character and other stats. Many seem like cheats (I don't WANT a skyshard map). Some seem sketchy, or confusing in their description at ESOui.com and other sites, have terrible usage descriptions or descriptions geared to a different language. Some have too many features that overlap others, or are "uni-taskers" with too few. Some aren't updated regularly, or are abandoned. It's a jungle out there.

And... IMO, its not that easy to find the highest rated ones without laboriously delving into individual categories (Unit Frame Mods?) and checking each one individually at the addon sites, comparing ratings, viewing screen shots, comments, popularity, before going through the effort of checking it out yourself.

To try to narrow things down a bit, what are the best more or less general purpose ones you would recommend pretty much everyone use to improve the game right now? ----and any tips on their usage? Any thing's fair game, but keep in mind there's a fine line between addons that add missing functionality and those that are more or less spoilers to a lot of players who just want a better interface here and there but don't want things (like skyshard locations) handed to them--I guess I'd prefer less of the latter and more of the former but I could be alone there.

    1. FTC - is a must to learn more about your character. It even has combat stats for the last fight, just set up a hotkey for it.
    2. Lorebooks + Skyshards - to level the mage guild
    3. Minimap - as soon as the map is working again, this is must have in PvP to -quickly and safely- know where your party is
    4. Wykkyds OUTFITTER + Wykkyd Bundle to be able to swap more skill bars depending on game style. You don't need to open your skill-window anymore: 1 AE bar + 1 DD bar or SPOT-heal and Battle-Heal, etc. a templar can have a single player hotbar and one for grouping, etc. Always changing the skills gets annoying!

The only must have for me is the add-on that removes the word "HIDDEN" from the screen but keeps the eye icon.

And I really like Azurahs UI enhancement.

Also Greymind quick slot bar is good.

I really like LootDrop (the all-in-one version) and the range of add-ons by Harven's.

FTC I only use to display the absolute numbers for health/magicka/stamina as there is an option to retain the original ESO frames. Everything else replaces it with custom bars.

Wouldn't play without: Guild Store Search, Advanced Filters, Bank Stuffer, Research Assistant.

Ones I could live without, but I'd rather not: Librarian, Craft Research Timer, Wykkyd's Outfitter, Easy Quickslots, Soft Cap Info, Srendarr, Sous Chef.

I learned quite a bit thanks to this addon. Things like weapon damage affects the healing done by resto staff abilities, the third hit of resto heavy attacks restores magicka basline, and that Essence Drain was a waste of two skill points.

One thing I wish they would add is similar to their crit color override option, have something that overrides all colors with what you want. It's great that it can track what kind of damage is going on, but all I care about is that damage happened and how much; trying to remember that fuchsia is one damage type, brown is another, one shade of green means poison, another shade means disease, and a third means healing.... a bit much. And having to reset all the colors to the basic red = damage green = healing when it updates is my one gripe with combat cloud.

Some great suggestions here. I wonder if anyone can speak to the additional memory/CPU usage required by add-ons—how many is too much? And is there a way of checking add-on resource usage?

I play with well over 25 addons at this point. I can't even remember the original interface.

Some crucial ones for me are:
Advanced Filters- adds additional tabs in your inventory screen to make things easier to see/find.

Wyykd's mailbox, advanced auto loot, and new loot drop- my husband and I got sick of having to manually additems to mail back and forth, and our inventories were increasingly difficult to manage space wise due to crafting mats and research gear. Advanced auto loot allows us to click one button in the mail screen, and poof! all of a designated item type are sorted, attached and sent. Wyykd's mailbox ensures that as long as we have "return" as the first word in the mail, it is auto bounced back to sender. Loot drop goes with this set because you can't see what you're looting when auto loot is on, so the add on displays that for you.

Research assistant and crafting research timer- research assistant allows for cross char tracking of researchable items, CRT displays timers so I know how much longer until that 15 day trait is learned.

Vickster's inventory insight- I have 5 chars that I play, 2 are crafters, AND a mule to hold stuff. I also trade with other players. A LOT. This add on shows me what my inventory is across ALL my chars and my bank from any char inventory screen. Which means when someone wants to buy a stack of rawhide or motif, I don't have to log into each and every char to find out who's holding it.

Luminary Trade History- again, I trade, buy and sell. This add on quickly shows me all items that have sold in the guild stores, how much it sold for (so I know what to price my items at), what of my listed items have sold.

CLS and FTC- I like the modified health/magicka/stam bars on FTC, as well as knowing enemy's health and buffs/debuffs. I don't like the floaty damage trackers and things on FTC, so I use CLS for that and the DPS/HPS meter.

I use skyshards and lorebook addons, though I totally understand folks that don't want to use them. I really like the harvest map; it only shows known locations of harvest nodes and chests. Meaning you have to have found it once before it is placed on the map.

The only mod I would argue is required is the minimap of your choice. (I believe I use ZRMiniMap modified) so you don't need to have your face constantly buried in the full map. (Note: If anybody happens to know of one that handles showing your group members better, *please* let me know)

The 2nd one I'd strongly recommend for any crafter is Research Assistant, so looking at an item you know whether or not you already know that trait.

All the rest of the addons I have (or that I've seen listed) I'd argue are fairly optional, not just missing practically required basic game functionality.
