So I've hit vr1 and have started going through the initial vr content and so far I am not having fun at all. What am I missing here?

It's taking an age to level and it's negating any reason to level an alt because I'd just be re repeating content. I just don't understand what the motivation is to go through the vr content, all I want to do is to get to end game and start getting some nice gear for group content.

The content is boring as we'll I've just defeated molar bal for atheist sake and now I'm back fighting crabs!

What am I missing here? I'm very close to canceling my sub :(

There is not a lot of reward for your effort. That makes it more like a chore that you need to perform in order to not get smashed in pvp. Not the best system really.

That's up to you. I would not keep playing a game I did not enjoy.

I cancelled my sub a few weeks ago. I have about two months left of game time.

Right now I'm just fighting for change. I'm sticking it out for two more months to see if ZOS has the will and talent to pull this off.

There are apparently changes coming to VR. When and what those changes will be though hasn't been said.

Personally.. Create a new character in the other alliances and play through their content that way.

A good many people hit a wall by VR4 or so anyway and won't be able to progress. Best to experience the game from different characters and playstyles. This way you also don't feel like you are betraying any faction loyalty you may have had with your character.

IMO, it was a very poor choice on their part to implement this as the 'end game' content. Not everyone wants to 'experience' the game all on one character. To me that is utterly boring to play the same way through all three alliances.

Grind to v12 in Craglorn, get your legendary gear for v12 in order, run around Cyridil for a few days, get bored of the pointless running around, then quit as you realize that's all there is.

Noone can make that choice but you. You need to be told that it doesn't change though. What you are playing right now is what you will be playing for the foreseeable future. VR levels are what they are, if you don't like VR1 you will HATE vr7-9
Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.
  • murklor007neb18_ESO
I dragged myself through VR1-10 PvE zones pretty much solo 90% of the time, my advice? Dont rush it. Seriously, you'll burn yourself out within a week. If you want to rush levelling, jump to craglorn and try to find a farming group. There's no way you're going to get there any sooner.

The thing is, the PvE zones in ESO are very very good. The stories are great, the quests are great and there is just so much detail in the world when you look for it. Try to enjoy it for for what it is, dont just see quest do quest next quest while completely forgetting wtf you just did. The starter quests are a little dull yes, it gets far more interesting 1-2 zones in.

Mix it up with Cyrodiil too of course, otherwise you're probably going to go insane with the slow pace.

I'm working on an alt and seeing the other zones that way. I'll just park my main at 50. Implementation of VR ranks may be the single most bungled aspect of game development in ESO. I'll stay subbed while I level my alts, then reevaluate.

Yeah the early game is really the most fun part. After around lvl 30 you pretty much have all your skills. For me, I would prefer to level different classes to 50 instead of 1 to vr12.

I'm going to try sticking it out up to v4 or v5 but who knows. Will most likely save that last faction for an alt. My other vet characters are just hanging out in PvP.

Ive been enjoying the VR content. But im only VR 4, so what do i know. But i will say it is the first time in the game i felt like there was a more consistent threat of me actually dying. And i enjoy the fact that levels are slower, it removes that overwhelming need to level level level now! But i am one of the odd balls it seems.

I landed in the VR zones, took one look around and said "wtf?!? I just kicked Molag Bal's ass, I'm a world-saving badass who has crossed planes to wage war on darkness incarnate...and now I'm worried about pulling a third skeever as I run the 1-50 experience again instead of VR-appropriate content? No thanks."

Now I live in Cyrodiil unless some guildies need heals while I look around casually at my gaming options. I wanted to love the game, the level 50-62 experience took a lot of the wind out of my sails.

Here's the thing. At least half of the player base are not going to do VR content, because it is THAT bad of a concept. Zeni is going to have to tailor their future content to include the 'alt' players if they want to have any semblance of subscriber base in the future.

They made a poor choice by not making the replaying of the other alliances optional. They WILL have to do something before long to address that fact.

VR ranks aren't that bad of an idea. The fact it takes a stupid amount of time to get from VR1-VR12 via recycled content is. I was "fortunate" enough to have certain aspects of the game help me quickly excel through VR level via grinding them. Now I just sit in PvP all day and gank people.

The PvP power difference between a VR1 and VR12 is very noticeable. Anyone that is not VR11 or VR12 I consider an easy target.

its is just a game, but similarly when i watch a bad movie i complain just the same about the money i spent on it. ( unless its so bad it is a funny bad movie then that is OK)

also, how do you think change comes about, either through complaints, constructive criticism, no business, or other outlets.

Most people like to feel powerful rather than die a lot.

It doesn't even get to that most times, it's just that it takes a lot longer each fight and we think this is boring and pointless.

I have about 2 months of game time left, but I stopped my recurring sub.

I have no intentions of doing veteran rank grinding. This game is flawed on many levels, but my love of tes allowed to look past these for awhile.

combat in this game feels sluggish. I have crossfire 7950 boost editions, I have tons of gpu horse power but the combat still feels blah even at 60 frames.

pvp comes down to who gets the first stun/knockdown/cc. Your frozen if someone shield charges you from a half mile away.

you cab dodge projectiles, the destro staff might as well be a homing missle. Dodge roll is useless because homing missles follow, you can't dodge skills at all...because mages never miss in tamriel...which if you have played the other games you know that simply isn't true.

I want this game to do well, I want zenimax to take my money, but they need to give me something worth paying for.

if they started making more dlc for Skyrim or oblivion for 15 a month I would jump in it because of the fame quality.

this game does the single player aspect very mediocre and the mmo part is very mediocre. It needs to do at least one thing well and it doesn't.

I don't like to be harsh, but its how I see it...they got two months to get this game in order and I'll re up else I'm out, and it seems many other people feel the same way

I am with you man. heck im considering being a total hypocrite, and rolling the sorc class I hate so much just to be able to PvP till they fix these zones, so I can play thru them with my NB. the vet zones are not bad, but there is no good reward for them, besides being able to actually play PvP:( heck try em with a NB and see how insanely hard they get. getting your butt handed to you by a bunch of rats after you defeated a daedric prince is not very fun at all. the highest iv managed to go is VR4. hopefully they change it soon. otherwise im going back to WoW.

To me, not fun. I do not do solo PvE for a challenge in an MMO. For challenge I go to dungeons or PvP. The "forced" PvE should be quick and only lethal if you *** up completely. VR mobs hit like trucks, and are tanky as hell. If they actually chained skills and attacks faster a VR1 mob would be tougher than a VR12 player.

The idea of VR ranks are not bad... But they should have made em as alternate ranks outside of normal lvls... Like Renown in Warhammer Online, or some such.
Then you could get good gear through PvE dungeons and such and not feel forced to grind those slow and boring VR ranks just to get within a competitive range for PvP. And then have the best gear for PvP diehards that earn it through time.
As mainly a PvPer, I find the VR grind atrocious. I've tried, really tried. Had my first VR char 2 months ago, another one 2 weeks after that. Both are currently VR2 since I cant stand it at all. The fact that there are people who like to grind such things and hit the max rank fast, makes it even worse for someone like me.
Since... well... I cant get to VR12 I will be forced to be the easy target for a great number of players. And since noone likes to get curbstomped over and over again, and the VR grind is a no go, I've felt forced into unsubbing.

Warhammer Online had it good... It was a PvP game, marketed as such a game much like ESO was. Let's face it, the PvE experience is not what sold this game, that was the PvP in Cyrodiil.
You could get good gear through PvE in Warhammer, good enough to get you through all of the maybe sadly limited PvE content. But the PvP gear was better and took effort to get which meant that you would not encounter a vast majority of players in the best gear inside a week... which is what ESO brings, at least when it comes to those that can stomach the VR grind.

Maybe I'm the only one who feels like this... but thats alright since I too am a paying customer and am completely entitled to my opinion.
