Oh please.... The vet level grind is atrocious. It has been cited time and time again as a very big reason for people leaving the game, don't try to invalidate someone's opinion with your fanboyism.

Its a legit gripe, even you don't feel the same way.

Yeah 10 zones filled with new quests, dungeons, world bosses, and dolomens... I don't think grind means what you think it does. Just because it takes time and isn't as easy as 1-50 does not mean it's a grind.

Thing is, a lot of the fun of leveling in MMOs comes from (character) progression. You get more powerfull skills, you get to spend points on stats to make your character stronger, you get better looking gear, you get to discover more and more of the overarching storyline... In ESO all that stops at 50. In fact in some aspects it reverses. You gradually become weaker compared to the world around you, your in-game persona becomes disjointed from the storyline and from previous achievements, quest gear rewards are only good for deconstructing/research (tho thats a problem throughout the game).
P2P offered you 'hell yeah!' moments. F2P offers you 'thank god its over' moments.

    Exactly this.

I try Wildstar in one of beta test before launch and after around 30 min i realize that this colorfull cartoon game is not for me.

My problem with Wildstar is not in genre but in presentation of this genre. I like science fiction as the same as i like fantasy but Wildstar is too much for me. I think that my head explode after this 30 min of my first and last gameplay.

What really rubs salt into the wound, is that WildStar is creaming ESO in the Metacritic rankings. I mean you've got a kiddie cartoon WoW knockoff, with pewpewpew, scoring an 86, and ESO has what... 71! *sigh*
Because sensible adults decide which game to play by looking at a website?

    Really?

Also, the fact it's a "cartoon WOW knockoff" and gets high ratings says more about the kids that use that site than the games themselves, I would suggest.

Metacritic gets the scores from a bunch of game review sites and gives you the overall rating, hence the 'meta' tag. It's not something you should follow religiously, but there is such a thing as an informed consumer you know.
You make my point for me.

Kids believe what they read, even when it's on 'review' sites written by a 'reviewer' who in most cases has barely played the game and even then only pre-release versions given out by developers to reviewers.

Consumers can only be 'informed' if the information they're given has objective value, I see little to no value of any kind on most 'review' sites and many of them are overtly or covertly in the pockets of advertisers and/or game publishers as has been shown in the past.

Aggregating garbage simply gives you a bigger pile of garbage.

I playing this game from early acces and love it. My main is lvl 46 now and i play with 6 char (2 in every zone) every char with another proffesion and i like my adventuring and questing in every zone with every char.

When i do the same quest with another character i choose different answers or different final decisions and i see the same quest from another angle of view. Doing the same quest with sorcerer or with nightblade not the same for me i must change my gamestyle, play with melee not the same as play with range and magicka char is not the same as stamina char.

I think that all my 6 chars will be lvl 50 after 3-4 month from today. I will continue to vet levels with my main after all my six chars will be lvl 50. I am TES fan and i like adventuring in Tamriel and i like adventuring solo. I know that gameplay in vet levels will be much harder and i welcome it. My main will be vet 12 maybe around christmass this year.

Hey this is pretty much what I'm doing. 2 in each zone, one test build, and one crafter. I just got my main to VR1 last week. The others will be making their way there slowly.

What has the disappointment of ESO and the foolish and regrettable choice to sub for six months have to do with Wildstar?

Saying how you dislike WS does not make ESO any better, ya know.

WildStar is popular because they are a WoW clone. However, when WoW releases their next major content patch or their next expansion, WildStar will lose its player base. Because honestly, if one has a max level character on WoW with lots of gold and a bunch of awesome stuff to show off, and lots of guildies and a reputation, why would they want to start all over again wasting their time grinding all that out on some other game that is just like wow... except in space?

This is the same thing that happened to Rift.

Thanks for sharing your misery, it helped me to feel a little better about mine. I only bought 3 copies (2 physical CE's and a digital Imperial.) Passed off two of the accounts to other family members after my kids didn't even bother to activate their subscriptions (still haven't heard the update on what those family members are thinking about the game, if they've even installed it yet.) I'm the only one who's been playing, and the last few weeks have just been a matter of logging in to reset my timers before logging back out.

I'm currently waiting for my kickstarter funds to be linked to my SOTA contribution, so that I can play the alpha version of that game. Twenty-five bucks spent on nostalgia-based-speculation is much easier to swallow than $260 :(

IMHO, even year is rushing it. 3 factions to play and many different story options to take -- like "should I lie here or not?" "should let this NPC die or not?" Play a "goodie two shoes or a super evil char?" so many options to replay.

On my alt char, I just now enter the last zone before the VR levels. I have not got a chance to play my main char that much yet.

But...you don't have three factions to play through if you level one all the way first. Thanks to the ridiculous recycling for levels 50-62 in this game, if you play through it as designed you will play through the other two factions before you ever get to a reroll.

For those whom have played Wildstar and Archage. If you could only have one, which one would you buy?

If I had to choose between those two, I'd go with archeage. I haven't played either. Archeage just looks more interesting. Don't get me wrong. I'll be sticking with ESO for a bit.

I haven't played wildstar as it's too cartoony. ArcheAge ticks a lot of my boxes because or the variety of options open to the player. But ESO does better questing and better hard-core grinding combat so it depends what you want from a game.

My disappointment with the narrow game-play of ESO (but L1-50 alone was worth what I paid) has done me the favour of forcing me to check out stuff I would not have before, like ArcheAge and even Star Trek Online.

ESO is fine at what it wants to do. It just doesn't have any ambition to be other than very good at one game-play style.

Which is fair enough. I was hoping for a broader game but what I got in the main faction story was very enjoyable.

I learned my lesson to never go more than month to month when I bought lifetime sub for Star Trek: Online. I played enough to have more than covered the price but the game has been totally upended by changes that were made, of course none of the changes were asked for by the players. Went back for the Romulan story line but will never again buy more than a month at a time on any online game.

    LOL overstate much?

If you played WoW for any length of time, the graphics are basically a different style of same. WoW had many subs over many years, so many players will be fine with it (even if they prefer ESO aesthetics - like me).

I would hardly call Wildstar's combat clunky, esp in comparison to ESO. Both are actually refreshingly different and a lot of fun - to me at least.

Performance of Wildstar on my system - a mid range athlon system with a 770 - has been overall better than ESO. Game mechanics overall - grouping, inventory, chat, etc...- all seem more polished in Wildstar thus far.

Admittedly I am not a rabid fan of questing. Some I like, but after an hour or two, I click through dialogue and sprint for quest markers. I find ESO quests marginally better than Wildstar (and this even pre-level 20 in Wildstar).

Biggest difference between the games: ironically player choice. I have so many different viable options in Wildstar to advance my character; it plays like every other premium MMO other than ESO in this regard. This is because XP is relatively balanced in Wildstar, unlike in ESO where the devs have thrown 90% of the XP at quest completion.

There is no 4-man, 12-man and PvP in Skyrim. No grouping options. No world bosses scaled for mulitplayer, either. And no guilds. No trading between players. If you missed that all these multiplayer features are in the game, you must have done somthing wrong. Zenimax is looking into the phasing technology to make it easier to quest together. When this works better, the leveling content is more "scaled" towards duo+ play than f.i. a game like WoW. Which has been P2P for 10 years.

People dismissing WS based on the graphics are missing a great game. The game has a lot going for it in terms of features, group mechanics, and pvp. The graphics alone almost lead you to think the game is easy, which it is not at all. Past level 20, any regular mob will kick your ass if you ignore the mechanics.
