I'm sorry to be the broken record here but I'm hoping someone can tell me something positive like
"no big deal pvping at vr1 vs 12, doesn't make much difference anyway"
or
"It stings a little but you can get to vr 12 just as fast pvping, you just need a good group"
or
"It only takes about half the time to get to vr 12 as it does to get to 50."

I'm fairly certain nobody's going to tell me anything like that outside of jest. I started as a night blade, couldn't figure out why my abilities stopped working or why I felt weak. Finally got to reading the foums at rank 37 and realize they're hurting bad.

Ok, no biggie I'll just roll him to 50 later, reroll a sorc because from what I'd read they're in a good position.

Finished the final quest go to the new region, clear it out entirely of quests and I'm not even 5% into the first level?

I mmo to pvp, yes I tabbed through most of the stories because I wanted to get to 50 to pvp.

If I truly have grind through 12 levels of vr content without pvping I just don't think I can do it.

The following statements are not bragging, just a presentation of how much I pvp. I've got 3 top valor rank characters in swtor and one guy at 90 of 100 and about ten more between 50 and 70. I've forgotten the names, elite warlord, warlord maybe but you get the idea.

I reached the highest rank in rift even though I made the mistake of pvping to level not realizing I should get to the end game as only valor is collected at top level. At least leveling was enjoyable but I had to play catch up.

I got through aion and was able to go through that grind for pvp trying to get the gear at max level without dropping a level playing their rng lottery on weapons and armor.

I'm not going to name every mmo I've played but there was pvp in every one of them and none of them required this much commitment before you could even tread into a pvp zone and hope to have some competitive fun.

I work a 40 hour a week job like many do here but even after I trudge through these valor rank I'm going to be spanked by top tier players who've had 3 more months to practice. I just don't think I can choke it.

If I leave, yes you can have my stuff. QQ

You can PvP at level 10. Sure you are going to get your ass handed to you a lot but that is something any PvP'er is used to. No one goes onto a new PvP realm and face rolls. Leaning how to PvE is completely different from leaning how to PvP so why not get xp for learning the content you prefer? You will be a much better PvPer when you finaly do reach V12 than if you PvEed your way to V12 then switch to PvP

So there's a lot of things in pvp I'm not happy with at the moment, but having said that, you can definitely be viable at vr1 with a nightblade. Your biggest thing will be having good gear. You want to make sure you've got the enchantments, traits, sets, and food to give you an edge. Also, don't think you can just run up and solo people like it's no big deal, you will have to compensate against the vr12s with your stealth ability, but trust me, there's plenty of stupid to prey on in Cyrodiil.

When it comes to leveling outside Cyrodiil, I'd just stick with doing the quests in Caldwell's almanac. It's in your journal and shows what you need to progress that faction's storyline. Those quests tend to give the most xp so you'll end up doing the least amount of pve. Good luck, and may your forward camps never be bugged.

The difference between a VR12 and a VR1 can be pretty large, depending on gear. It's going to hurt. I do know some people who entered Cyrodiil at VR1 and one is already VR8 and the others aren't far behind. They don't really leave Cyrodiil. There are quests, dolmens, delves to do, although no matter what the xp you get from actual pvping is pretty low. There are bounty quests (kll 20 players) scouting quests, capture this and that, be sure to get those regularly. I'd say just join a group and follow the herd for a bit :) If you can craft, get some good set gear or have someone make you some.

Questing VR1-VR12 will take a long time sorry. Also keep in mind in order to get to the third alliance you need to finish Cadwell's Silver quest.

Thank you Hilgara, and yes I realize I could have started earlier but anyone who is serious about being competitive and having fun wants to be at least as prepared as they can be.

The problem is just how much of a shocker it is to find out at 50 You've gotta do two more entire factions and then some?

I don't mind taking a butt kicking, I'm on the US server on aldmeri if there's a decent pvp guild out there that does it nightly non stop I'd love to meet you before I throw in the towel.

I just had no idea I had to do that much more pve to be competitive.

Well if u r a low level VR or even non VR, you can do a couple of things :
    1. Be in a zerg
    2. Dont be the one at the forefront of the zerg. Let the VR12s do that
    3. Dont participate in small gank groups that is less than 5 people
    4. Dont be too eager to chase an opponent. If ur out of position ur dead
    5. Invest in a fast horse, ur gonna do a lot of running back
    6. Use ranged weapon/skills, dont bother meleeing
    7. Be a vampire so that you can walk faster when hidden
