Staff's are the new Bow - BUFF THE BOW

I've all but given up on my bow, works well in PvP on a wall to start things off, is okay in PvE again with snipe in stealth as the first big hit, but other than that it's useless.

And my chosen profession is bow making... You have no idea how may purple bows I've made that no one will buy.

    :(
Been here since Feb 2014 - You'd think I'd be half reasonable at this game by now...

I've been using the bow exclusively since I was in beta. Currently vr7. I've had no problems. I'm not sure what dps for a vr7 should be, but I'm able to sustain around 400 on long fights, which seems to kill things just fine. I think my current bow does 115-120 damageish and my light attacks hit for around 170. This is probably due to having triple jewelry wep damage enchants and having the warrior mundus stone.

I don't personally bother with snipe because of the 3 second cast time. If I spend time in PvE casting a snipe that does 1500ish damage it's a waste because in the 3 seconds it takes to cast I could do a 800ish heavy crit with poison arrow light attack weaving and do more damge. Snipe is fun in PvP however. There's also no reason to use Mark target (I'm a nightblade) as it's bugged and doesn't work properly. Even if it did most mobs have such a low base armor your damage would hardly increase in PvE.

In most cases in PvE I'm never hit once by mobs. Even groups of three. I normally take out the squishy in the first 2-3 hits and use magnum shot to alternate cc as it disorients the target (poison arrow can interrupt this so you have to be careful). I currently use Funnel Health, Magnum Shot, Poison Arrow, and Leeching Strikes (sometimes I switch to siphoning attacks for fun), while the last spot is interchangeable. I mostly use the Summon Shade morph that allows you to teleport to the shade because that's just awesome.

A side note because Haste was mentioned above, even if Haste were to work with Bows (which it doesn't), there would still be little point as animation canceling removes any need for attack speed. Hopefully this gets fixed as I would love for nb to be the fastest attacking class.

Main problem is that there is no good reason to use stamina for anything other than dodge, block, or sprint. Blocking and dodging are a must for survival in VR content so stamina will always be in short supply compared to magicka. It's really that simple

Bows are for stealthy Mages. It's got some great passives. Just don't use the active skills ever, or at most pick your favorite one and use only that one very infrequently. Otherwise the rest of your build should be Magicka skills, because you're 100% correct. Stamina is for dodging, blocking, bashing, sneaking, sprinting, and CC breaking. Using Stamina for skills is deliberately reducing your ability to do those things when you could be using Magicka for everything skill related and never have to worry about diminishing your ability to block something or bash someone or CC break an unexpected stun.

That said, that's a stupid game design. Fixing Bows needs to start by balancing resource inequality. The weapon would be totally fine if you could use the skills and not screw yourself by doing so...you know, like destro or resto staff users.

IMO the best thing they could do for stamina builds would be to create an entirely different resource pool for dodging, blocking, etc. call it endurance or fatigue, whatever. Eliminating the need for stamina for anything other than heals or dps is the only thing that would ever make it up to par with magicka abilities. Because simply jacking the dps of stamina skills sky high would make stamina builds too powerful if the player never dodged or blocked etc. and is the problem they are facing.

How I see weapons should be acting in game play:

Destruction Staffs - Best AoE DPS, second best Ranged, worst CC Weapon. The Ranged Version of dual wielding or simply put a caster's Bow. Used when there's an army at he gates that needs to just go away.

Dual Wielding - Best Single Target DPS, Best Melee Option, Zero (0) CC options. The thing you pick when a sum' *** seriously needs to just die and nothing else is going to touch you because your comrades have your back.

Two Handed Weapon - Second Best Single Target DPS, Second Best Melee Option, Second Best AoE DPS, Very few CC options, Many Debuffs a raid can benefit from. The Multi-Role weapon that can do one thing extremely well if focused on it but usually is best left as the everyman's everykiller.

Bows - Best Ranged DPS, Third Best AoE, Best CC options without a doubt in my mind. Can be used to kill a *** from afar or take down oliphants. More importantly, it's used to both back up the other weapons and take things down in it's own right.

Restoration Staffs - Heals. Can either be super awesome amazing heals or back up heals for Templar, either way it's meant to fit both healing classes and nothing more, just healing.

Single Weapon and Shield - Tanks best friend, not staffs. Has a knock back, a taunt, several survival abilities, etc. Basically make this as tank or support friendly as humanly possible, i.e it does crap DPS on it's own but can be stupid necessary if a smart player uses it to support EVERYBODY in a raid.

How I see Weapons actually acting in game play:

Bows - lol is that a bb gun?

Two Handed - Nice piece of cardboard Nerd

    Dual Wielding - LOLTWIRLINGLIKEACHEERLEADER

Restoration Staffs - Screw Templars, just give me my super stick of life.

Sword and Shield - Oh look, he has a wooden shield. Throw fire and oil on him and let us laugh. Bwahaha!

Destruction Staff - LOLOLOLOLHAXXORZ LASRBEAMZ UR DED ***!

Might be true but are trying to turn this into a WoW balance. And you are not accounting for the other skill lines available in game.

bow is weak, buff bow please.
History, like a human being, is thirsty when it wakes from its slumber…History wants to drink up an enormous amount of blood. And even if history has tired of drinking blood, that’s only in regards to the amount. But what about quality? The larger the sacrifice is, the more delighted the cruel gods will be.
