Book shelves in veteran zones

Has anyone gotten any skills from reading books in veteran zones? I stopped reading them around V2 because I never seemed to get any points in skills anymore. I found changing my hot bar to reflect skills in the line I was after before turning in quests was the only way to really level up skills in veteran content. With the rare exception of exploration sometimes leveling a skill, and finishing research.

Do veteran book shelves even work? It's one of those things on my list of why veteran content feels unrewarding. Unfortunately, it is really far down on that list though.

If you've gone through reading a good number of bookshelves in your 1-50 area, then no, there aren't any skill books to be had.

    Just lorebooks.

Ya, I get skill ups occasionally from reading a lore book in veteran areas. But, nada from book shelves.

Just assumed reading book shelves was a waste of time after trying several hundred when I first got V1 and never getting any skills. I guess it's the same for everyone. Seems like an awful waste of book shelf space if you ask me. Unless of course you actually want to read them, I suppose ;)

There's a finite set of 'skill books' that can be read from bookshelves. Once you read them all, you'll never find another skill book (or to be more precise, it won't give you a skillpointEDIT : skil level ).

So if you read all the bookshelves while in 1-50 there's a big chance you found all the skillbooks already.

Easier on the devs. Touch nothing in the zone except the opponent difficulty. All other items and triggers leave as is.

    Which included the provisioning mats...

You can find a maximum of 5 books to increase a given skill level. I.e. you can get a skill line up to a max of level 6 if you have never gained any xp in that skill line. If you have been rummaging through bookshelves since the very beginning, chances are you have already read all the books that could give you a skill level up by vet ranks.

Oh? Guess this is another unwritten thing behind the scenes. Was that on a game loading tip or posted in an official ESO guide somewhere? Thanks for letting me know.

Perhaps they might consider increasing that skill cap, and locking half of it until you reach veteran zones though. That might, in some small part, make the overall game play experience more rewarding for veterans. Since there are so very few veteran rewards presently.

You get 5 levels per skill from bookshelves (except I got 10 for destruction staff and 0 for restoration staff). After that you get none, veteran or normal.
