I NEVER pay for multi-month subscriptions on a game unless I've played it for atleast a few months. That way, I can get a good feel for what it has to offer.

I still enjoy the game. PvP adds a new element, seems like so many ppl expect perfection from the start.

What really rubs salt into the wound, is that WildStar is creaming ESO in the Metacritic rankings. I mean you've got a kiddie cartoon WoW knockoff, with pewpewpew, scoring an 86, and ESO has what... 71! *sigh*

Keep up the research and don't forget to feed your horse. You still won't be finished all 8 traits for each slot by then. Buy a new horse every 50 days so you still have something else to do. Have fun!

WS is the best MMO to come out in years because it's a complete game at launch, has all the best features of previous titles in the genre, and the developers are really really fast as fixing balance issues. Also, it's just fun to play. I'll never understand why they made the first 20 levels sort of boring, but after that it's a blast and the characters get more fun to play the closer to level cap.

The questing is unfocused, but the quests are just a means to get to the various milestones of the game like ranked PvP, unlocking frigging awesome dungeons, and raiding. You can skip questing all together if you want.

So it's the same old stuff from the last 10 years of wowclones? Great!

That's probably why their forums are aflame with angry people who say WS it's going F2P in 2 months lol

I don't really get the comparisons in this thread to Wildstar. Different people like different stuff.. go figure. Their forums are nearly identical to what these forums were at launch. New MMO, same old complaints about bugs, bots, lack of features that whoever deems an MMO "should" have, and the whole "I'm quitting" gloom and doom mess. If you don't like the game, fine.. it's not for you. My boyfriend doesn't like it, he doesn't play. He also doesn't give me a bunch of crap because I find it fun. Just as I don't give him crap for enjoying Wildstar. Ultimately it isn't going to matter what reviews a game got, it just matters that you enjoy it while you play.

All that being said.. I don't know why you got a six month sub. I did that for one game only and highly regretted it. Learned my lesson and now I don't sub more than month to month, no matter how much I'm enjoying the game at the time.

I was hoping for a 12 month sub. I was going for 3 months sub, but after the first day, 5 days early access, I just know....this....is...it. 6 months was a no brainer.

I have been trough several MMO launches, so problems, disconnects, lag, you name it. Its all part of any MMO. The important part is what the game offers. Broken features or not, doesn't matter. Bugs/problems gets fixed. The game was good!

But so was SWTOR, so I still had my concerns in the start, because SWOTR was a great made game, with no plans, or managing other then Support. Sure, they made expansions.....but those where not even on the planning stage when the game was released.

But when I saw how much Zenimax was working with the game, read the long term plan, constant adding stuff, while fixing and kept to their plan of Tamriel lore, where everything you do, is connected. THAT made me more and more sure about ESO. AND it had that drug that kept me logging on!
I have not had that since everquest!

The more I saw how Zenimax managed the game, how they did REAL balancing. Not just buffing everything, which almost every MMO who choose to go that path, failed. Made me even more sure that I am not wasting my time here.

The way problems/bugs/balancing is done, made me even more sure that I will be here in 6 months. Hell, soon I would dare to say, a year as well. (After Patch 1.3 and how the new 2 guilds will be managed).

Now I am sure. Tamriel is a world to "live" in, and is managed very well, by a company who keeps coming up with future additions. INCLUDED in the subscription btw.

Players must understand the game they buy. It is to much " personal expectations", instead of what the game is.

I have not played Wildstar, but read a lot about different MMOs, and I have friends who do play Wildstar and LOVE it. But same friends has 0 interest in ESO. The games are so different! Both can be fantastic, but for their player type.

ESO and Wildstar are so much apart in what kind of MMO it is....I think only Eve Online would be further different then ESO, compared to Wildstar.

Both ESO and Wildstar looks quite promising and good games to me. ESO suits me. But just cause Wildstar has nothing that interests me, doesn't make that into a bad game. Just very different to what I find good in an MMO.

It has been less of these comments now, like "ESO is boring, going to Wildstar".

I still get so confused about if you really like one of these, what is your interest in the other, which is almost a completely opposite type of MMO?

Who actually takes video game reviews seriously? The people scoring the games have no education or knowledge greater than a 10 year old that plays lots of games. If you don't like the game, fine. Eat the cost of the sub and move on. Using metacritic as support for your tastes like it has some sort of authority is just silly though.

It's like getting that really hot girl. Everyone wants her, and it makes her that much more appealing. And you finally landed her. You're excited, you're satisfied, and you feel accomplished. As time goes on, things you find endearing start to annoy you. Then you start to get frustrated. Soon, she's got you sleeping on the couch for every conceivable infraction you can think of: not taking out the trash, forgetting her mother's birthday, breathing. You never know what exactly you did to make the situation worse, but somehow, it's always your fault. Eventually, you leave. That's when it hits you: behind every hot chick is a man who is sick of her ***..

This is what I mean guys. Um, ESO was very clear about the wars between the alliances. And even to think an arena pvp would have any place at all in Tamriel?

Someone must have tricked you guys. :-(

Regarding PvP, or more correct, siege battles for land control in ESO is only inside the biggest zone in the game, Cyrodiil. I NEVER had any interest to do any pvp. BUT when I went there, did the newbie quests, got into big groups, who used tactics by, even different leaders, I found myself, for the first time in my 17 year old MMO history to enjoy player vs player.

I still do not like 1-1, when I ride alone to somewhere, I do look very carefully around, cause every now and then, I get murdered moving alone, mostly even dont know what hit me and dead! However, this adds to the thrill. Cyrodiil IS a warzone which is a dangerous place by nature.

But the battles! Its so close to using real military tactics you can get!
Planning and execution of the plan, following orders, was working so well, that it did not matter how big the other alliance was. With the right tactics, lower level, less experienced pvp players, or like me, a PvE player, Wun battle after battle!

War machines! I may SUCK at pvp and I fit into your "noon-skilled noob". But I am one HELL of a good catapulter. And defending a keep, or going with a small force to take a resource. Not only is it fun as hell. Its for the cause of our alliance, and I am learning and getting better at it!

A word that keeps popping up from pretty much everyone with a high end character in ESO who is bored, is just "Grinding". I know to well, what grinding is, and I refuse to spend 1 second "working" in a game, instead of playing it.

I have not "grinded" a single thing in ESO. Sure, I just recently reached Vet levels. But guess what? The months since the launch just flew by!

Every game isn't for everyone, and some people are happy to try everything. I respect that.

But at this stage....its even somewhat clear to the new players who are populating our newbie and level 20-30 zones, what ESO is.

I go every now and then to these zones, to listen to the zone chat. These new players are VERY different to how I remember the zone chat in May.

    They are ESO players...

I guess some people have no patience, they rush to buy the game, they rush through the content, they rush to complain then they rush to another game and start the whole process again.

The only thing I see for the rest of 2014 is crappy/buggy "Early Release" games and an endless stream of ordinary indy games.

EQNext seems to be offering virtual realty trading and brokering. If it goes the Entropia Universe route, this could prove to be very worthwhile. I'm tempted. OTOH, if it goes D3, poof goes your money. Ah, the beauty of virtual markets.

Why the heck should I ask a tank go vampire? Even before when they where totally wrong, I had no interest in it. I love that vampires and warewolves are in Tamriel. Adds to the world. But its nothing for me.

I was one of the few who KNOW that vampires WAS to good to be true. 50 k for a bite? Haha! And then several people quit ESO when they fixed the mistake they did. Vampires are great! For the right character.

Im an orc! I live by honor and bound by duty!

EQNext, I followed for quite a bit. Even before landmark was released. I didn't understand why they talked so much about landmark. Sure, good to get players input how to build the world. But they taking stuff right off. Might be good or not. Now I understand landmark. Smart move....

EQn had several really cool features. Great AI.....I was really excited...until I saw the horrible words that KILLS any MMO from having any type of quality (Few exceptions. Project entropia IS kinda cool)

    "Fee-To-Play"

The same second I saw that, was like the air went out of me and completely forgot about EQn. I had ESO on my radar back then too....so wasn't out of options. But we talking 1.5 years ago, hehe.

Sure, try EQn...its free. But, one of the main thing why EverQuest was so good, and still have people who played it from start....or HAD. They kinda lost it the past year. Everquest had no lazy people. No "I want it now". Risk-vs reward is a underlined feature. Unless you WHERE a good player. You did not reach highest level, and you there was no chance at all to be raiding, unless you where good.

Public raids tried...and tried....and tried...and tried. And cried. BUT, EQ had something called MATT. because of him....there where NO nerfing raids. Get good and beat it, or go cry somewhere else. THATS how you do a good MMO I feel.

I still want the death penalty in MMOs that EQ had. But I think I would be the only player then......hehe.

Me too :( I paid for 3 months thinking the same thing which will be 1 month of playtime and the 2 months watching the game disintegrate.

I'm really disappointed and kind of amazed at how MMO developers continue to get almost everything wrong with every game that comes out.
