Why... Oh WHY did I pay for a 6 month sub!!??!

I'm pretty much burned out over the mind-numbing grind at later levels and I have no desire to go on... but I've got 140+ days left on my account.

Damn it! How did I let another mediocre MMO burn me again. I thought ESO was "The One".

What really rubs salt into the wound, is that WildStar is creaming ESO in the Metacritic rankings. I mean you've got a kiddie cartoon WoW knockoff, with pewpewpew, scoring an 86, and ESO has what... 71! *sigh*

At least you'll be able to get your horse to level 50.

I really wish WildStar didn't have such [snip] childish graphics. The graphics are the best thing about ESO, since there really isn't much else to love about this game.

I can understand paying in 6 month increments if it were on a game that you'd been playing for upwards of 6 months and had established that you loved, but why would you ever drop that much money on a newly released game that is still finding its footing?

    I honestly don't understand.

This was the first game I got a 3 month sub for (in 13 years of MMOs). I got my money's worth no doubt but I find it hard to even justify another month. I will wait it out and check back later >:)

I concur I got a six month sub and I am sorry I did, but the matter of fact is there is slim pickin's for new mmo's at the moment. There is no game out there that is shaking the market.

Hehe same boat but only 3 month here. I'm logging into Wildstar mainly now (it's a fun game). All my friends left ESO for it. They actually would still be playing ESO (they love realm v realm PvP) but for some inane design decisions, such as xp reward imbalances (no group leveling in dungeons).

I enjoy questing. Still loving the game, vet level 1.

I like that I get to do the other factions quests and see the other sides.

Its not perfect ct, but I can certainly justify paying for 6 months easy......

    THIS!

The games I am looking for (Star Citizen, Elite Dangerous, No Man's Sky, Destiny) don't launch until 2015 or later.

The only thing I see for the rest of 2014 is crappy/buggy "Early Release" games and an endless stream of ordinary indy games.

I feel you... i purchased and activated 3 GTC`s at launch... i did not buy a sub as i feared their billing problems but i`m in the same situation, 139 game time days remaining...

I still play to finish all the quests but i know that after that there is NOTHING... the trials are lame and can be done as fast as a normal dungeon and except that there is... nothing.

Would have loved some additional grind for better gear but no that is crafted gear so you have no reason to do dungeons/trials.

Would have loved PvP arenas but no they only show that at the E3 and don`t intend(so far) to put it in the game...

I liked the Single Player content, i feel they did it right but they forgot to add MMO elements... all you have is a huge nice Single Player game with a guild system, a decent crafting system and a PvP map that is empty most of the time and lame all the time as there is nothing to balance the numbers properly and its more like a gank/run simulator of some kind.

I won`t even go into the basic things like an Auction House, the fact that you are not the leader of the group YOU created, the ton of exploits left for too long in the game, the slow developer reaction and the poor Customer Service response(most of the time they inform you in a role playing way that they can`t help you and you must wait for a patch... half the time you just get some copy/pasted response that is unrelated to the problem).

Overall the score of 71 is fitting... they had some good ideas but they never finished implementing them and only finished the Single Player(leveling) part... and that was finished 2 months after launch as before that there were a lot of broken quests.

It was bound to be different because it wasn't made by Bethesda. I'm not trying to be harsh, because I purposely decided not to do any research on the game before its release (I wanted it all to be fresh and new and exciting), but did you read anything at all about the game before you bought it? While it is more of a single player mmo, the ES gamestyle still had to be revamped to an mmo style.

The difference bugged me at first too, but once I wrapped my head around the idea that this game is a hybrid more than a pure TESO game, it became more enjoyable.

Most MMO'ers that I know and game with roll multiple characters with specific roles (healers/tanks/dps) across different factions. They grow bored fast on sticking to a single toon or role. Some MMO'ers however play a single toon exclusively. This is a perfect game for the latter sort of player, and a terrible one for the former.

But shouldn't a triple AAA premium MMO with a sub accommodate both? Doesn't it actually have to in order to attract a large enough playerbase to fund development?

Sort of reminds me of Age of Conan's Tortage Island. The first 20 levels were fantastic... really loved running through Tortage Island, then the game went to absurd levels of suck after that.

I often rerolled and went through Tortage a number of times, because the game following both sucked and blew!

I dodged the bullet by changing my 6 months subscription to 3 months before the "free" month was up (ie the month we paid $50 for). ESO still make me just... sad. Pretty much all my TS/vent friends have stopped playing it, yet I still think its an amazing game. Its beautiful, the core gameplay is fun and Cyrodiil has just soooo much potential. But unfortunetly, I play on the "EU" server. A vast majority left just because of dat constant latency.

I'm always down for taking chances on new games, assuming I'm not completely wrapped up in something else. But like I said in another thread, never buy bulk subscriptions in the first year of a new game. There are just way too many bad releases to trust anybody these days.

Next time a game is coming out that you find yourself getting a little itchy and overzealous with the credit card with remind yourself of this...If they can bork a game with the words "star wars" in the title anything is possible.

LOL in all honesty in 6 months ESO would be worth a six months sub. its the price you pay for playing an MMO at launch there are plenty of people that have come running back to ESO after playing wildstar. It will so its flaws in 6 weeks just like ESO did. If you enjoy having siezures while you play video games by all mean go play it.

I bought a six month package and I'm glad I did. I also bought a three month for Wildstar. This way I can take a break from it when I need to and come back when I want to explore new content.

    Think of it that way.

Only went month to month as you can never be sure how things will go in a new game, when I played EQ1 I paid for 3 accounts a year sub each at one point , but I don't see myself paying 3 months ahead let alone a year unless things change for the better, like new content that is not all groupage and discriminates against the solo style player.

So sad , I had the money set aside for the year sub too, but alas....

jesus it baffles me how people think that being at end game 3 months after launch is rushing. People that are just now hitting the VR ranks are rushing? there is a definate flat spot here partner . Everyone ends up at end game whether it be 3 weeks or 3 months but the result is the same its imbalanced boring and not well implemented. the bulk of the population is saying the same thing. We all want the game to be better , i feel as the OP does the only difference is i know that no MMO actually has its game play and content straightend out until 6 months after launch.

Haha yeah....not much directly on the horizon. I can finally take a stab at that massive backlog of games on my Steam account. I think the Steam summer sale is coming soon too grrrrrrr.

Archeage beta is coming soon. Not sure I really like the gameplay yet, but I really want to build my own boat and have some naval battles and just sail around.

Same. Got both, played both, canceled this, play that every day now. Joke about the color palette all you want, but they're laughing all the way to the bank. Their game is amazing, completed, and years ahead of ESO in terms of features, and content (and actually having things to do). WS community is paying for actual premium content, rather than the hope that someday they might get it. I really wanted it to be ESO to rule them all, but this is just early-access for console release. It's not finished. We're literally a laughing stock all over the internet but here, since its the MMO that pretty much only allows you to play by yourself. ZoS is probably playing WS, which would explain massive silences and no communication. *sigh*
