Can we still level skills at VR12?

I just had a brainwave.
The way I understand it, skills level by acquiring xp while having the skill, or relevant weapon/armor type, slotted.
If this is true, that means you can't level a skill anymore after hitting max level.
Please tell me I'm wrong, or that you still gain hidden xp at maxlvl that's just not added to the bar anymore...

✭I believe so yes. Skill XP is different than Vet XP to boot after level.

Correct. You are still getting xp for fights, quests, etc. that will level skills. You just don't get vp towards a character level.
