Thinking I May Put My ESO Subscription on Hold Temporarily

I love the game but it's feeling very bland, very uneven and very unbalanced - and every time I read these forums I see more complaints about what's not working than I see the devs commenting on what's coming next - and it really demotivates me from logging in. When I do log in, the content feels very, very repetitive (right down to world/instanced map design) and I'm really getting bored with the voice acting (the NPCs are all starting to sound the same).

Based on previous experiences with other MMOs that have seen their development content slow to a crawl due to dual porting issues between console and PC, I think the same is happening here again - and its too soon after launch to be buying in for minimal, repetitive content.

I'll check back in the autumn once the console port launches -- just to see how things have improved. In the meanwhile I'll go play Skyrim because that's really got a lot more to offer than ESO currently. If anyone has a better reason on why I should stay subbed, I'd be glad to hear it.

Yeah, I wish it were actually console port issues. But unless you have an org chart of ZOS with staffing levels and weekly targets, you're just speculating. Not that I disagree with you, but this forum is full of guesses and negative speculation. It seems to me that it would be a good thing to stop some of this.

There is something that is easily shown that I'm sure that we can agree on.

Mark my word, ZOS: your broken promises and rotten customer service will kill the game, if it hasn't allready. Word has gotten around, hasn't it?

The game is a lot more enjoyable if you never visit the forums, it's like a non-smoker walking into a room full of lit-up smokers.

Not that that invalidates any other issues you have with the game, I'm just saying.

I pity the people that are considering this for console.

I wonder if Zenimax even has the balls to claim a subscription from the console crowd when it releases. Rotten customer service indeed.

If you are pre-VR, still leveling to 50, the reason is probably simple: you are bored of saving fair Jill from foul demon on yonder hillock.

In most MMOs, when you get bored of one avenue, you turn to another avenue of character progression: group dungeons or PvP. But not in ESO. Here the devs in their inexplicable wisdom have nerfed those normal sources of XP into the ground, so your future remains filled with an endless series of fair Jills beckoning for you attention.

It's not about game content pre-VR, it's about the inane imbalance in XP rewards for existing content. If you get bored with questing prior to reaching level 50 in this game, you've got pretty much one option: unsub.

Yeah, I'm trying to level an alt of the same faction right now and it's grueling. In other MMOs I would have the option of leveling via PvP or dungeons so I didn't have to do the quests again. Then on the next alt maybe I'd go back to quests, because enough time had passed for me to enjoy them again.

I think they shouldn't have made the PvE zones factioned. That way the existing leveling zones essentially become three branches you could have chosen from when making new characters. Only PvP/Cyrodil should have had factions.
