My idea for a classless system.

Hey everyone, Neizir here, and I have a few suggestions as to why I think a classless system would work in ESO and my ideas for a classless system.

I know that simply removing classes from a game of which's character progression is built around, would be one hell of a structural and mechanical revamp, but my system causes it not to be so much of an effort.

For a start, there's no more constant struggle of class balancing, thus depleting valuable resources that could be used elsewhere. No more OP or UP classes. No more forum threads whining about how a class is OP/UP etc. This causes valuable resources wasted in balancing classes to go into new content, bug fixing and polishing. It would also make ESO stand out more from the typical MMO crowd.

I know that classless systems do work in an MMO. There's a lot of MMOs and games in general that use classless systems, for example Runescape, so saying that no classes will never work in an MMO environment is pretty much invalid.
So here's my suggestion on a classless system!

Obviously, remove all classes from the game and refund players with every skill point they have ever spent to invest in the new skills.
Implementing the schools of magic from the traditional TES games would cause all the former class abilities to be relocated into these skill trees, allowing for even greater flexibility in builds since all class abilities are available for everyone.
Also the schools of magic make a return. Abilities are placed into these skill lines based on their function for example, damaging abilities go into Destruction, summoning goes into Conjuration, healing goes into Restoration and buffs/synergies go into Alteration.

"But then PvP would be a mess! VR would be imba because they have all the abilities and passives!" There's always the VR and non-VR-specific campaigns, and if you chose another campaign you should've expected to be pwned, being lower level. VR is OP vs. Non-VR in PvP anyways, so there's no real difference.

What do you think?

I feel if they wanted to change the class system, they needed to do so from the start. I'd rather not see them overhaul the system after months and months of beta.

What I'd rather see are more branching out skill lines be introduced, and I think we'll see that with spellcrafting, the justice system, and new classes (which may introduce new weapons. Polearms anyone?).

While I wish ESO was designed from the ground up with a classless system, I don't thinks it's feasible for thwen to make the conversion. My best suggestion is to just make the best with what you can, I've been making multiple builds on the different classes that are basically centered around what I would do if the game was classless.

Appreciate the fervor but a classless system been mentioned ad nauseam in previous posts. Zenimax is not going to humor this concept.

Beta and three months subscription revenue should bear evidence of sustained DPS and resource mechanic balance of all classes!
