wine vs stew, a breakdown

just trying to figure out which one is better.

supposed each battle finishes in x sec.

wine gets you x*12/2=6x magica.

food get you 200 magicka (apprximation).

so the break point for a combat is 6x=200, x=200/6=32.

So for battle lasts less than half a minutes, food is better, longer ones, wine is better.

am I missing something?

Food makes you do more damage, which makes fights marginally shorter

Food is a better choice since more magicka also means more damage. And since most people have magicka regen already overcharged, food is the only choice.

On the other hand, it is beyond my imagination, why being drunk is actually a bonus

    For vr5 epic drinks/foods you get +8 regen / +257 max.

So in combat you get an extra 8 / 2 seconds for the drinks or 240/minute. The food gives you an extra 257 to start with, which also counts towards your damage calculations and other things like that. That's why everyone goes with food over drinks.

    Yes you do miss something

MA/STA food is giving you damage/power bonus. And for VR5 blue STA/MA food, that is quite a bit.

Also, if you take into consideration added bonuses from Mundus like Tower or Mage, or eg racial max STA/MA bonus, it improves more the output and the overall pool.

Sets that give you back % of the resource, eg warlock or class abilities, they will give you more back also.

8 MA/STA a similar level drink will give you, is like 240 per minute. It doesn't affect your damage output, and more likelly in veteran levels you will be in soft cap areas (~90-100) on STA/MA.

However if you have managed somehow to cap your pools, then drinks do make sense.

This exactly. Due to having magicka regen at softcap so easily, you will lose half of the effectiveness of the beverages. Due to this, food is far superior option not even considering the bonus damage from magicka/stamina.

yeah, softcap really messes up calculations.

i did forget the damage increase from magicka.

Just racial passive, light armor passive, and storm calling passive if you're a sorc.

Guess I am penalized for wearing 5/2 light/heavy.....

edit, not by much, about 4 total with 2 heavy, after seducer set puts me over the softcap.

At V6 and I am at 92 MA/80 STA without any MA regen set, and before combat regen abilities kick in.

And I wield a Greatsword with 5HA/2LA setup as Khajiit Templar.

I was very disappointed when I found out this thread wasn't a petition to have alcohol make your character drunk.

wait, you are saying no equipment nor passives bonuses? is that a class thing or something?

    need more details.

When I mentioned MA regen set, I mean a crafted set. (eg Seducer).
I use Hunding Rage one (give STA boost).

Of course I have rings that give bonuses. Plus passives from eg armour.

And haven't added the bonuses I get while in combat.
