So I was reading the latest Ask Us Anything Variety Pack and I took notice of the following:
Is it normal that a horse can continue to sprint even if it runs out of stamina? I think players don’t appreciate that trait, since it seems to do nothing. – Chris J.

Yes, horses can sprint indefinitely without consuming stamina. That said, stamina is still valuable for two other reasons: It protects you from being dismounted when attacked, and if you rapidly press the sprint key you will get big boosts of speed on your mount (but at a much higher stamina cost). Of note, only horse mounts have the endless sprint trait. Other upcoming mount types will have different special traits.

Does this mean I'll finally get the Guar mount of my dreams? Or be able to ride a Kagouti? Will we be able to float along on Bull Netches? I wonder what kinds of special traits these new "mount types" will have.

I am so excited to learn more about this!

    Netches, probably not.

    But Khajiit, for example, ride other Khajiit into battle. (Read, the bipedals can ride the larger quadrupedals, the senche, into fights).

    The Stablemaster in Way rest mentions "Bears from Orsinium" in his dialog.....War bears would be cool.

    Am I the only person that doesn't like the thought of seeing loads of wacky mounts? I'd rather see more horse customisation.

    No, nothing ridiculous or lore-breaking, like party colored chickens, but racial mounts or even some class based things would be some decent fluff.

    How about a Dwemer mount, something that looks like a chair with ten legs, don't care how fast, I would look both Grandiose and Ridiculous as I wander around with everyone watching me. XD

    Gimme a dog-based mount. ...Big wolf or similar?

    I want my kitty riding around on a dog just to further stress feline superiority.

    I've already named my speed mount and bag mount Hound and Mutt respectively.

    I think we're definitively lacking some Race specific Mounts.


    Argonian -> Guars, Kagouties, Alits

    Nord -> Bears, Mammoths

    Orc -> Wolves

    Redguard -> Camels

    High, Dark Elf -> Magical Mounts

    Khajit -> Sabrecats

    Wood Elf -> Dreughs

    Breton - > Armored Horse Mounts

    Some more Unique - > Dunerippers, Wamasu, Durzogs, Netches, Giant Snakes, Giant Scorpions, Dwemer Spiders..

    I don't want to be riding around on dragons or anything silly. But there's nothing wrong with riding a Senche. As long as it's reasonable, I wouldn't mind having some new mount choices.

    I don't see the bosmeri riding the amphibious dreugh into battle.

    While they would make sense riding wolves, you'd have the whole Mononoke thing going on there. I could see them riding spiders...

    You're definitely not, but unfortunately we are in the minority. I remember when lotro tried to introduce new mount types and only came out with a goat mount...it was really stupid and immersion breaking seeing everyone riding around on an f'ing goat and I'm sure it'll be the same here :/

    And I would definitely much more prefer more horse customizations like armor or something, but maybe some day.

    It's just idea, I look at them more like a Race that is sticking to nature, which is why I chose Dreughs for them. While Orcs are more savage and would deserve something that matches their personality.

    Though they should still allow us to buy other Race Mounts.

    They should bring in the silt striders. Maybe not as a mount.. though a lone dunmer running around on a silt strider would be amusing.

    I think having different horse armors like FFXIV would be pretty awesome, maybe even allow it to fight with you (Shadowmare does and they have it in XIV). I know there are the different "morphs" of the horse, but actually being able to equip the horse with like alliance tabards, guild banners, or other such thing would be nice.

    Racial mounts would be good, but would definitely give the game a weird feel with everyone riding all kinds of different things.
    And so did many brave men, women, and beast fall to the end of Beta, never to be heard from again. All that is left, is whispers of the adventures they had.

    I hate to use the W word, but WoW did the whole mount and guild emblem thing ages ago. BUT... to be honest... it looked awesome. Riding into a PvP battle with a group of your guildies all of you showing guild colours... soooo very cool !

    I'd go along with riding a senche, if it's part of a quest but if they were available to players for general use everybody would want one and horses would cease to be the general mode of travel as they are in other ES games.

    How so?

    If they had a specific trait with each mount that was unique, horses would not necessarily be relegated to back burner. People would choose whichever mount trait would be preferable.

    I would LOVE to be able to ride a senche-raht. Always been a little annoyed that they're mentioned in the other games but never made an appearance.

    Choices, choices, so many choices... I am happy with my horse(s) but as long as they were not that exotic, I could live with other mounts as well, perhaps racial (like motifs) with a quest line to allow other races to be "Allowed" to ride them...this may require enclaves (like the Argonians in Gratwood) to allow for the chance to be able to ride a mount from an opposing faction... or Faction Mounts...
    Of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most...
