Blocking is useless.

If I want to fight a melee NPC, I have to hit, block, hit, block, hit, block. The game deals damage when the NPC begins to swing, not when it actually hits. So that means you have to block well before he even starts to attack. This IMO, is a horrible design and doesnt separate good players from the bad. The game turns into an attack spam fest with little to no thought process. I chose a melee character because they tend to be more intense, more fast paced, and relies more on twitch reaction times. ESO doesnt have this. It feels like im fighting with the engine more than the NPC.

    Yeah this is true.While i fighting with mob (iam dk) and my strong swing not completed i mean while my arms were at air , mob got dmg and sometimes die.

    so this is not real time combat actually and plus lags ofc...

    There's also some random delays in block or the block lets go of itself. But it could be my connection problem? Could anyone clarify?

    You are not really supposed to block the normal attacks. Only block the charging ones.

    Don't block normal swings. That's just a waste of stamina (each block costs you the same stamina no matter how weak the attack was)

    Block power attacks. Those have a wind-up animation with yellow sparklies, giving you time to react. Those also are the ones worth blocking because not doing so means you take big damage and often also suffer from a stun/knockdown/etc.
