I definitely regret the purchase. I didn't know they'd put the horses in the shop like that, and that really was the only reason to buy the upgrade. The Imperial race is underwhelming in general and there really isn't much to make you absolutely need to use it when you buy the Imp. edition. Has cute armor though, so there's that.

You can get a horse for really cheap. I mean you can still get one in the normal game but it costs 17k for a beginner horse or 42k for a good one. Oh and you can be an imperial.

It's your money, do what you think it's best. If you can afford the extra 20 bucks without putting yourself in a tight economic situation, I would say go for it, just for the cheap mount. Otherwise, it's not really necessary.

i dont use anything from it unless you want to be an imperial I dont see a reason to.

the horse you get is low grade and you can get an imperial motif pretty easily

I started out from early access with just the base game / explorer's pack. After levelling into the 30's without being able to afford a horse for my main character (due to constant respecs, no doubt), I had a guild member help me out with the gold to buy a horse.

I started levelling an alt, and decided to just dump the money on the imperial edition. Not having a horse blows, period. Also, the imperial motif is very rare and expensive, and I really like the style of the armor, so it was worth it to me just to be able to convert all of my gear to the imperial style for free.

Imperial is also a pretty well balanced race for just about any character role, if you want to roll a human but dont like the passives the other races of men get.

I would still say get it if you can afford it. That's the only way to play as an imperial, you can get an imperial motif without buying it, however you still wouldn't be able to play as an imperial just make their armor style.

    Its absolutely worth it.

Buying the Imperial Edition allows you to buy a horse, on your main and ANY alt you ever make, for 1g.

You gain access to the Imperial race

You can also play any race in any faction (rather then being limited to the three pre-sets per faction).

If the horse is the main thing you want, then it's only worth it if you plan on playing a bunch of alts - otherwise just saving up your gold once for a horse is better. Even then, the palomino is a cheaper way to get horses for your alts.

The only way it's worth it is if you want to play as an Imperial.

Of course, personally I got the Imperial Edition, but that was really because I got the limited edition physical version that came with the statue of Molag Bal and (most importantly) an awesome lore book with sweet art.

I don't want you to have a Horse at level 1, or Imperial race so I voted no hoping to deprive you.

The horse costs 1 gold at the stable and can be fed Oats every day by the stablehand to increase your inventory size. Only one a day, but hey, 50 items.

I say yes, even though I don't have the imperial edition, because you get an entire race exclusively and a horse at lvl 1. I didn't get my horse till like lvl 30 lol, but I got the 42k one thanks to friends helping me out. Also, imperials have legit racials. The health and stam increases are nothing to discount. If you have the money, go for it.

The horse is worth it. The rings of Mara are ok if you can find someone who actually plays with you.

The best part about the Imperial Edition, that no one is mentioning, is that you get to play any race in any alliance.

We're not mentioning it because that's not part of the Imperial Edition - that was a pre-order benefit. If you pre-ordered the Imperial (or regular) edition then you got that. If you buy the Imperial Edition today you don't (unless you buy a physical copy of the Imperial Edition that happened to be picked up by the store as a pre-order).

Wife and I both bought Imperial editions for the extras.

We don't regret it at all. 1gp horse that you can get within minutes of logging in is still far better than a 17k horse that will definitely take you some time to acquire. The horse by itself, was worth it, but I also enjoy playing my Imperial character, too.

    Yes.

Its not too much money and you get a nice ring, some fluff a horse...

Plus your helping the game I guess.

Can choose not to pay and still enjoy the game, but, you will be shunned by everyone around you and will have an eternal chair at the shortys table... ;)

I'm not answering the poll because it really depends on what you like -- what's worth it to some people isn't worth it to others.

    So, here's what you get:

    1. The horse: The horse is very helpful, especially at low levels and for alts. The imperial edition horse isn't the best horse you can get, but it will be quite awhile before you can save up the 40ish k in order to get a good one. I've personally much preferred being able to focus on using my in-game gold on buying more inventory/bank slots than buying a horse.

Your alternatives to the Imperial edition horse are spending real money on the Palomino horse instead ($15), buying the "cheap" horse which has the same stats as the Imperial horse (10k-ish) or getting one of the good horses (40k-ish)

    2. Play as an Imperial: Well, do you want to play as an Imperial? If you do, Imperial edition is the only way you can. However, if you don't want to be an Imperial, you don't need it.

It's funny because the main reason I bought the Imperial edition was so I could play as an Imperial (I didn't want to be restricted) and all of my characters are Khajiits...

    4. Craft Imperial gear. If you have the Imperial edition, the only time you can do this uniquely from anyone else is when your character is of the Imperial race. Otherwise, you do what every other player in the game does -- get an Imperial motif.

    4. Transform into Imperial gear. Do you like the looks of Imperial gear that you want all of your gear to look like it? Personally, I've never really used this; I did it once or twice to try it, and then never touched it again.

    5. Rings of Mara. Imperial edition is the only way to get it, unless you find someone else who hasn't used theirs yet and have them use theirs on you instead of you using one on them. Is it worth it? Well, if you are into XP boosts and have someone you can play with all the time who won't quit the game on you, then sure... For me, I don't want or need an XP boost. I'm currently level 41 in a level 38 zone, so the last thing I need is more XP.

    6. Mudcrab pet. It's cute, and you can't get it any other way. I'd rather have a cat pet though. :)

@Soulharvester: No! Not the shorty's table!! And a shunning?!

    @Chatoyancy: Nice list! See below:

Thanks to everyone for their votes and their recommendations. Based on what everyone said, here's my ranking of identified "benefits":

    1. Craft/transform cute imperial armor. That sounds promising. I mean, you can't get enough cute armor.
    2. Play as an Imperial. I've played as an Imperial in every TES game I've played. Other races, too, but at least once as an Imperial. Not a preference, but an option.
    3. I don't want to be at the shortys table.
    4. I don't want a public shunning.
    5. I get a free (or next to free) horse. You mean one of those white animals that keep running me over whenever I got a city? I think ... no.
    6. Rings of Mara. Oh seriously? I've managed to successfully navigate through almost 30 years of human life without getting attached to some boy ... only to become attached to some boy in TESO? Um ... no.

Funny tho ... Rings of Mara but no kids. Strange bit of logic there, Zeni.

Thanks again. Really. And if I ultimately decide not to buy the Imperial Edition and ride my annoying white horse over everyone in sight, the pedestrian traffic of the Aldmeri Dominion will forever thank you.
