Soul lock ..world skill

I invested 1/2 for 5% chance to trap soul with weapon kill,on world skill soul lock...at2/2 ..I have 5% chance to trap soul??is this a typo??do I get an increased chance??or does mechanics of game only give 5% ..so..wasted point..?

Of course its a typo.... do you honestly think they added a second point option that does not work, just to gobble up a point.

Your Skill screen shows the power you currently have. To see the stats of the next upgrade click on the + ( or the triple dots if morphing ) and a screen will appear showing your current ability score on the left, and the upgraded skill(s) on the right. You can compare on that screen, and then accept or cancel.

I've noticed that too. Initially I've been running for a while with 1 point in the passive and then later invested another point in it. When I read the tooltip for the upgrade I also thought that it was a typo but then after running for quite a while with 2 points into Soul Lock I'm pretty sure that the rate at which soul gems get filled hasn't changed much or hasn't changed at all. During next respec I've changed it back to 1 point and I still get roughly the same number of filled gems every day.

Unless we did some serious experimentation on the difference between investing 1 and 2 skill points there, we wouldn't be able to tell between the 5% and 10%, and whether there was any real change or not.
But yes, it's more than likely just a typo and will be fixed at some point in time.

Do you need a empty soul gem for the passive skill to work? Or do you just get extra filled soul gem?

You need an empty soul gem. I usually buy a whole lot of them at mage's guild when I enter a new area.

Looks like its a typo since the patch notes on the pts server show a fix for it.
