Bow (almost) only build possible?

Is there a build that is actually workable using almost exclusively bows for a ranger-type solo/small group PvE player?

I use bows about 70% of the time with single-hand melee about 30% of the time. Up until around level 43, I had Poison Arrow, Volley, Scatter Shot, Soul Trap (for the health / stam recovery) and Silver Leash. I'd usually just switch to melee when more than one melee enemy charged me. If it was just one guy, I'd kite him. I started working snipe and some other AOE abilities into the mix for some of the harder fights later on, but I've had a lot of luck in solo and dungeon PVE with this build.

    Hope that helps.

Bow is a great weapon. And you can easily specialize into only using it on both bars even. Snares, knockback, AOE, bonuses to long range, movement bonus; seriously, you can make Bow workable with many, many builds and settings.

Yes, I can use my bow for any group or boss. I play a sorceror. Daedric minefield is a must have. It produces 5 mines that last 30 seconds. I set that up and position myself behind it before attacking. They have to run into that if they are melee which does a lot of damage and immobilizes them. For ranged enemies, you just have to look to burst one down with a sneak attack or Snipe.

From L1 to L50 bow is fine, but once you try the Dest/Restore Staff combo, no matter what class you play, you will most likely never go back.

At the moment, once you get to V1+ Going 5 light armor, 2 heavy, Dest/Restore Staff combo seems to be the only build. Which is a shame as I really liked my bow but after V1+ you have to start dodging etc and Stamina damage just does not cut it anymore.

Soloing PVE, sure bow , you can still survive, but in PVP or Vet Dungeons, I was getting hassled for not being Dest/Restore Staff combo and once I tried it.... I never looked back.

Yes bow skills are useful in PvE. I am even currently using it 65% of the time in PvP with my DB/DW with success.
