I would like to see appearance change eventually. But what I would like to see FIRST is the ability to create/save "templates" in the character creation screen. Basically, you pick a race (but not a class), then fiddle with it until it looks the way you want. Then you save it as a "template". Then when you create a character, you pick a race/class, then you can pick the appearance from a drop-down of "templates" you have created previously. Templates would be specific to the race they were created on, for obvious reasons, but you should be able to create as many as you want.
I also think it would be better if these templates were saved locally, and were shareable. You could share them as small files. "Hey, check out this neat looking Argonian I made". Drop it in your template directory much like an addon, and the game will pick it up and let you use it.

this is a really good idea. ive made a few characters now. ive said in the respec thread about how i ran all the way to grahtwood with my level 6 bosmer to change from siphoning to assassination nightblade... well, the main reason for doing that is that i was really pleased with her appearance and i didnt think i would be able to redo her !! :P
hence running to grahtwood at level 6.
This is one of those things that most MMO players look for, no doubt about it, and ZOS has commented in a reddit AMA that changes will be possible at some point with new hairstyles. I'm kind of wondering if that's only a barber shop deal though, rather than full-fledged char gen options. I'd like to see the ability to change everything in some manner or another.
Yes I would like this. The character creator is good, but unfortunately when I made my first character during early access, the creator was bugged and wouldn't allow me to zoom in to see my face properly. I would like to alter my appearance now that I can see it up close
I've started a thread specifically on this subject so it doesn't get mixed in with appearance change (which is a totally separate thing). Hopefully it will get some developer notice. I don't think this would be terribly hard to implement given most of the systems are already in place for it.

Vampires are probably complicating this a little though (coincidentally, the same was true in Skyrim) as being a vampire locks down skin tone, facial adornment, and eye color. There may not be any way to disable certain sliders in the chargen currently.

I'm not trying to be mean or something but, where did you hear this? That this was in the works already.
