I like that there are super rare item to get in the game. It;s like guild wars 2, been playing that since beta and have never gotten a precurser drop. That's over 2 years lol

GEE.. wonder why HIRELINGS don't deliver recipes. That would MAKE SENSE!!!! ZOS!! Why you hate on those that feed you... ;)

Yea.. pretty annoyed that since the great STEALTH NERF of 1.0.6 to Motifs and Recipes we have been SOL. Sorry to state the obvious, but I'd like to get at least ONE Purple VR5+ myself. All those players in our guild that had them have moved to Wildstar and nobody has the recipes now.

I don't see what the big deal is over the purple recipes. One would think the devs were squeezing them out their own butt cheeks. Its not like there is an overabundance of mats for them any ways. They keep this crap up and they will end up chasing more people away when its in their best interest to keep em satisfied and subbing.

I found a purple VR5 drink recipe in Cyrodiil last night. It is the first purple recipe I have found in over two months.

I'm starting to see in zone chat people finding the purple recipes. Maybe ZOS took note of all the threads and did something about it.

Same reason none of the other hirelings bring things like Motif Books. The game is about finding things. Yes we may feel they are picking on us because at the end of our 1st session we haven't found enough materials to make legendary items galore. But to do that where would the challenge be..

I have never, ever found a purple text recipe while looting. I bought one off chat, but have never FOUND one. I HAVE, however, found an Imperial Stylebook just laying in a wardrobe...

I went to one of those sites that sells ESO items, you know, those people we love to hate for the spam just to see what purple level recipes are going for. To give you an example, a Daedric motif is about $25 and we know how rare those are. A purple level Consummate Honey Brittle Recipe goes for $329. I think that tells the story on the rarity of purple level recipes.

Agreed, the drop rate is too rare. Maybe certain "favored pets" got their purples so they quickly nerfed the rate to maintain exclusivity? I can't think of any other reason.

Who would those "favored pets" be?

I've found over 40 Daedric and Ancient Elf motifs and have never found a purple recipe. I think that I may have found one during the first day when they were dropping at low levels, but gave it away.

I've also found a purple level 35 recipe. Seems like this level is far more common for whatever reason as everyone seems to have a purple recipe for this level.

I spend at a couple hours a day farming containers, looking for a VR purple recipe. I've found one so far..... and it was on PTS @#$%^&.

Only dropping in dungeons would make no sense. Yeah, sure, lets give the Purple recipes to people who may never even consider Provisioning while making it unavailable to people who have devoted so much time to it.
If they ever create a Legendary recipe it better contain bacon as one of the ingredients. I'm just sayin'.

Then let him ask someone from ER how many purple recipes they've found as a guild. It gets a little old being accused of getting things handed to you when I have to struggle the same as everyone else. I will accept donations, though, if anyone has a purple VR5 food recipe they'd like to donate.

I don't believe that Zenimax would do what that person suggested; it seems like such an overly-complicated way to give someone an edge. But it's not impossible to understand how people can imagine such things given the circumstances.

For the past several days, a guy in EP zone chat in the Dawnbreaker NA Cyrodiil campaign has been trying to sell 6 VR5 purple food recipes. He has 3 of the brittle, 2 of the pudding and 1 sweetroll and he has linked them in chat so I know he has at least 3 recipes. He also has an unadvertised number of purple VR5 beverage recipes. I have no idea if he found them all, purchased them, duped them, stole them from a bank or guildies or whatever. I am just amazed that some people have been looking for months (like me) and have not found a single purple VR5 food recipe while this guy has at least 3 and possibly 6 of them.

I have several Purple recipes, but they are mid level (30 & 25) so not world shattering. It's just random.

I have a V7 Soc, V5 Temp, V3 DK and V1 NB and lvl 42 DK and I have never found a purple receipe or the Daedric/Ancient Elf motif for that matter.

I look in every single container and go through every building in every town everytime.

Just to point out how much I farm these things I now have close to 100 pepper.

You're V7 Sorc will be the one to find the daedric and ancient elf motifs. Try the chest behind the queen in Skywatch AD.

Not really that random. If you go through all the Crafting posts I think you will find almost everyone has found a purple recipe in that level range. For whatever reason they just seem to drop more frequently in the 25-35 level range which is interesting considering how very little time anyone actually spends in that range. Now compare that to the VR1-12 range where most time is spent and see how many people have purple recipes in that range. I myself loot around 1000 cabinets, trunks and dressers a day and still can't seem to find one. VR blues and rare motifs I just give away.
I have a V7 Soc, V5 Temp, V3 DK and V1 NB and lvl 42 DK and I have never found a purple receipe or the Daedric/Ancient Elf motif for that matter.

From my experience, Primal and Barbaric motifs start dropping in your 2nd Alliance zones regardless of what Alliance you start with. Ancient Elf and Daedric start dropping once you reach your 3rd Alliance zones. Judging by the level of your characters I am guessing you are spending most of your time in your 2nd Alliance zones.

Purple recipes actually drop much more often than people think. Have you ever tried to loot a filled container only to receive a message that it was empty even when you knew it wasn't? That was actually a purple recipe that the system deemed you were unworthy to possess. You've probably never seen this as this only happens to people who are unworthy. :P

There seems to be a disconnect here that you're not understanding. Motifs and purple recipes drop out of certain containers like wardrobes only. If it drops provo mats (sacks for example) its never gonna drop a motif or recipe. The motifs 1-10 drop in the first alliance. Primal and Barbaric drop in your 2nd alliance. Daedric and Ancient Elf drop in 3rd alliance. Doesn't matter which one you start in. Find a spot with a lot of night tables, desks, wardrobes and chests. Run through the area and loot those. Log out, log in, rinse repeat. Depending on your luck and rng you will find a motif an hour average. Purple recipes can drop from anywhere, but the same rules apply. You want the under 50 ones, stay in first alliance, the vr5s drop in 3rd alliance. Someone may have had some luck in other areas, but this is a tried and true rule. The chance on a purple recipe is like .01 percent, so be prepared to spend hours looking at the login screen while you run the same circuit over and over.

Purple recipes also drop in Cyrodiil (I found a VR5 purple beverage recipe there). The 1-10 motif books also drop in Cyrodiil. Backpacks are a great place to look as they seem to be the universal container. They have can hold anything and everything - recipes, motif books, provisioning items, alchemy water, style (racial) stones, lockpicks and junk equipment.

Here is quote of the bullet point: The insane rarity of high level purple recipes is absolutely a bug with a fix coming, and is already in the pipeline. For example, it is not our intention that rare recipes are sourced exclusively through Trials.

The real question is if this bug has been fixed in today's patch. Can't find an answer :(
