Bug Fixes being held in a Content Patch

Why are so many bug fixes being held hostage by a content patch? So many class and skill fixes that are being withheld rather than patched into the game as fixed. Bug fixes need to be released, and put the content out when its ready, this is getting absurd.

Soon, just soon. No ETA. Soon is perfectly acceptable timeline for a developing team. Soon, OP, soon ...

Thanks for bringing that up, it really worries me that widely spread bugs are not hotfixed but tied to a content patch weeks/months later. I mean we are talking about class skills and really important stuff. Stuff that is affecting almost all your players every day they log in.

Havent seen a game before where this is not taken very, very seriously. I think I remember a quote from one of the devs saying testing period for hotfixes and patches will be 10 days, then it will be released to live.

Really unhappy with the content patch + hotfixes in a batch system.

Im not concerned with the content. Its new and will be done when its done. I am referencing the broken skills that are being fixed and being held up until the content patch is done.

It kinda sounds like they've hired an outside company to do all the patching/bugfixing/coding, and it's cheaper to get all the work done in one package than to do it in several.

Just never remember playing a MMO at release that did important bug fixes like this. Especially one with a monthly fee that needs to retain people to be successful.

    Just a very small example:

I think I became a vampire 3/5 days in after the early access began and ever since, everytime I die several of my passives stop working, forcing me to relog/change zone after every single death if I want my passives back (Funnily though the +50% fire damage works all the time). "Well ok, it will be fixed Soon™ ". Then 2/3 weeks later we got the first patch notes saying that the fixes would come with Craglorn.. I'm sure the people that decided to do this do not play this game, if they played they would know how freakish annoying these types of problems are and would not have waited for a big content patch to deploy the fixes. (I still can't PvP with my main character because of this particular problem).

While it's normal for content patches to bring in some fixes/changes this type of stuff should not be one of those. This should be fixed as soon as possible, tested, and immediately deployed - specially when you are asking 15 bucks a month. Why you ask? Because I won't keep paying to become frustated like I'm already. (Ended up forced to roll another character for the moment - I can't stand this problem any longer).

The fact that we are still mostly getting fixes for level 1x/4x quests kinda leaves me worried about the future really.

Apologies for the rant, but after a month and half my patience with this problem (and a few others) is thin.

Agreed. Dont hold important fixes to existing content to future content that is still under construction.

If 1.1 dosent come out this week ill be pissed, it shouldent take 2 months to fix completely broken spells. Plus tons are broken that 1.1 dosent even address.
Every coder associated with ZOS should be focused on repairing spells and existing content, Minor issues are OK, Major issues causing a spell to be completely worthless or a quest to be completely unpassable NEED to be fixed ASAP. - Before even THINKING about future content.

The fixes are not ready, they are being tested on the pts server. If you start to release code to the live server without testing it it will end up breaking other stuff and creating new bugs.
Do you think the the team doing bug fixes is just sitting on their hands looking at the wall waiting for the other guys to finish Craglorn?

Major fixes also require extensive down time, if you are going to stop people from playing better do it all at once then 3 time in the span of 2 weeks.

If they think its better to wait 1.1 they have a good reason, they are professionals doing their job, the devs are not holding up fixes just to troll you.

Because Zeni need to justify the long wait for Craglorn. Its a shame somebody at Zeni doesn't realise that bugs/hotfixes should take priority over anything else. Yes, by all means work on new content BUT... if you got a few fixes ready get them into the game ASAP ! ! !

@Zenimax Developers - Ignore the suits they only care about money. Remember back when YOU were a gamer and WHY you got into game development ! ! !

Honestly there where a TON of bugs reported during the beta that where still broken, in the same exact way. On release.

They need to kick their bug fixing into gear, especially with spells.
And if they really are holding back bug fixes for existing content to finish future content, that is a BIG NO-NO. If the fixes are ready, they should extract them from 1.1, throw them into another patch like 1.0.9 or something and release it.

Not white-knighting here, but seriously, since ZOS isn't gonna win in this issue, i think they are going with the implementation plan that will cause the least amount of whining.

If ZOS was rolling out the fixes every other day as they were cleared to be put onto the live servers(which i personally would not mind as i can go do other things when not playing), there would people up in arm about how they are paying customers and the constant downtime is destroying their gaming experience. You KNOW it would happen. So imo, ZOS is going the opposite route.

Have more ppl whining(with many smaller patches and accompanying server downtimes) or less whining(consolidated patch while the server is down once). Can't blame them really. I'd go with less whining as well.

I don't care about Craglorn. I'll never be a raider. It will be months and months before I max out vet levels anyway as my main is currently level 46.

I do care about the quest in Bankorai where you slog through tons of mobs in a dungeon to get to the end and the relevant soul gem isn't there. Or the other dungeon one where you cannot make the cog because the 'make cog' mechanism doesn't work. Or the main questline chapter I cannot complete more than 15 levels later because of that insane harvester (please just kill off all the harvesters actually).

So make a decision. If Craglorn is going to be more than another week before it can be released then give us the bugfixes in a seperate patch - unless there are fundamental game mechanic changes which mean one is totally tied to the other.

Im not talking anything to do with content. I am talking bugged abilities and passives. You are telling me a month in they are still testing bug fixes to abilities that are broken? If that's the case that doesn't speak highly of their dev team at this time that they haven't been able to fix them. We have already had several days of patching quest bugs why not add the abilities in at the same time?

I am just saying for most new MMO's network issues and quest/ability bugs take a huge priority the first month due to the fact retention takes a huge hit when these things linger. Lets be honest also they aren't going to get all of these things right when they do roll them out live either and that's fine I can deal with that. Rather than hold these fixes back though, put them out as done so that the ones that will remain bugged after can be looked at.
