Can someone please explain the "in combat cannot sneak" system?

It just flat out doesn't make any sense.

-If I am solo and kill a player I can usually sneak immediately... but not always.
-If I am solo and don't kill my target I usually can't sneak...but not always.
-If I am in a group and kill a player and get the killing blow i can sneak immediately but if I don't get the killing blow I am stuck for 30 seconds...but not always.
-Sometimes I'll be in a group and be fighting and not kill anyone and still can sneak right away.
-Sometimes in a group we kill all the enemy players and no one can sneak for 30s.

It just doesn't make sense... I would LOVE to actually be able to know 100% that I will or won't be able to sneak, but right now there is no logic to it. Every time I think I've figured it out I'll end up either being able to sneak right away when I usually couldn't or I'll get stuck revealed for seemingly no reason.

Personally, I think if you are out of LOS of any enemy you should always be able to sneak. For now though, I'd just like to know how the system is actually working because it feels incredibly random.

I would assume you're out of stamina. You do realize that you can't sneak when you're out of stam, don't you?

It's only logical that you can't sneak when any of the enemies is aggroed on you. He is watching you, he's attacking you and so you cannot sneak away. For such situations you have to use NB class skills if you're one.

I am not out of stamina in any of these situations. I also should have clarified, my post was more in regards to PVP.

I have this issue also. Even in PvP.

I have full stamina. I have killed or not killed an enemy but just engaged in combat.

I run out of any line of sight (behind tree or rock). I sneak, the eye is still open. I use shadow. shadow ends, but the eye is open instead of closed.

Sometimes even when enemies are around me, i sneak and it works directly.

So i don't understand this either.

Blending the disciplines of the stealthy agent and subtle wizard, I move unseen and undetected, foil locks and traps, and teleport to safety when threatened, or strike like a viper from ambush. The College of Illusion hides me and fuddles or pacifies my opponents. The College of Mysticism detects my object, reflects and dispels enemy spells, and makes good my escape. The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."

Thing this is the in combat flag, you attack an player or someone attacks you, you will then be in combat for some time as target was not killed.

It might also be an bug, playing an healer I can often not mount an horse for two minutes after taking an resource. Healers are probably hit hardest as they inherit the flag from players they heal.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I have been told that when you kill a player you are unable to sneak until they respawn. Now this has been tested and confirmed..

The only part I do not currently understand is if there is a timer, so lets say they choose not to respawn.. How long you need to wait until you can once again sneak.... or if you can increase the distance from their body, how far away do you need to be in order to sneak.

The way I understand it is that there is a timer. If you don't kill him you have to wait, but if you kill him and he is grouped you have to wait. If you kill him and you are around their guards you have to wait (they can see long distances).

I have noticed that if I kill a person who is not grouped/far from their group, and away from forts, I go into sneak fastest.

Whether they respawn or not has no bearing on your timer. I know that as fact. We had a griup "camping"--waiting for his friend to rez him and I was still able to sneak.

I hear that if some of the opposite faction has you targeted, even when they are dead, but not released, then they can keep you in combat for as long as they want. Not sure if this is just a rumor or not though. I think they used Tab-targeting to do that. Also something I am not sure about since even though there is a key bind for it (tab which I changed to switch weapons) I thought there was no tab-targeting in this game. *confused*

Also as said before I believe healers are hit the hardest especially when they use healing over time spells and someone with one of your hots stays in combat, so do you. Also a rumor and just a feeling. I do know that on my healer I usually stay in combat far longer than on my non-healing alts.

I consider it a bug, out of sight for the enemy for longer than a second or two should drop you out of combat and able to sneak and mount up again.
