[SPOILER - AD Story] Total plot disconnect

Trying not to post explicit information in case someone missed the
warning ...

In Reaper's March a major character dies, by your choice in order to achieve the 'greater good' . then you meet another central character who acknowledges the death.

Then in the quest Messages Across Tamriel you meet up again with the character that 'died' and there's no attempt AT ALL to explain it.

It's plausible they're still alive because you didn't actually see them die but W-T-F ZOS, the way you and they carry on as if nothing had happened is to say the least bizarre.

Clearly not a big deal but the story telling has been grate, but this bit just grates. Is there any rational explanation here?

I'm guessing we have to assume that because he is who he is he somehow managed to avoid that and then pretended to actually die. Think Sherlock at the end of season 2.

Actually, you are told by this character that the right choice might result in their death, but it wasn't a given and you never see it happen.

I never had much doubt that the character had survived, so in that respect I probably didn't feel the disconnect you did.

This one managed to click the wrong option, Zaria seriously considered restarting the game after that.

She was overjoyed then he survived.
And yes he said he was fast on his feet then you meet him again.
Also possible his group managed to escape the collapse but was trapped another place until rescued a day after you left the ruin.

And yes he is an cool character, the possibility that he is killed off would result in they could not use him anymore.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

It IS explained. You meet that character again, at the end of the Mane questline. You speak to him and he explains that he managed to escape. You somehow ignored him(he literally stands in front of the moon-walk entrance) So how you missed him is beyond me. You essentially skipped that important interaction and jumped to Messages of Tamriel quest which then changes his dialogue to assume you already interacted with him the quest before.

I did not choose the option that would result in his possible death. I found it quite humorous that quite a few characters commented to the fact they had not seen him so mad in years and that they thought it a wonderful joke
"Only in the darkness may the light be known, just as only the truly mad can ever be sane. So come Mortals, Demons and Gods, dance with me, and know the madness within!"

That's what happens when there are no nameplates, I got bored long ago targeting every NPC to see who they are. :pensive:

As for my actions, I took the option that seemed 'for the greater good', given what said character says about the item which causes this choice to be made.

Anyhow, I guess @Lord_Hev is right, I must have missed the key to this .. maybe I can go back and look for it.

    Thanks all. :D

Just remembered one thing .. the next time I spoke to the Queen she had dialog that seemed to confirm this character was dead .. though I guess if you parse it carefully it isn't black and white.

So true. Same with players in towns, it's like running around an empty city with some roaming npc's due to this.

I chose the same option every time in the veteran version of AD too.
-First-Wave Closed Beta Tester of the Psijic Order, aka the 0.016 percent.
Exploits suck. Don't blame just the game, blame the players abusing them!

-Playing since July 2013, back when we had a killspam channel in Cyrodiil and the lands of Tamriel were roamed by dinosaurs.

-In-game mains abound with "Nerf" in their name. As I am asked occasionally, I do not play on anything but the PC NA Megaserver at this time.
