Do I need to pick a Subscription plan before I use my 30 free days?

Do I need to? If so can I cancel my sub right after I pick that subscription plan? I don't want it to charge my card nothing. Thanks

Unless I'm misremembering, you do need to input a payment plan to utilize your free 30 days.

You can cancel directly afterward and continue playing, without worrying about it auto-subscribing.

It will likely charge you a very small amount, and then almost immediately refund it to you. Basically, it's just checking that there is an actual account behind what you gave it, but then it refunds it once it determines that you gave it a legit account.

I believe they do a verification to make sure you have $15. I used Paypal, and this was done without actually withdrawing any money.

I believe you can contact customer support and ask them to manually activate your account, so you don't have to go through authorization. But yeah, you can let it authorize and then immediately cancel your subscription plan. It will check for the full sub price, so don't pick 6 months...

It is not free 30 days it is bonus 30 days! Which means you need a subscription plan in order to activate your bonus 30 days. All MMOs require this.

The authorization is for the full amount so it will take that much off of your card and list it as pending. It will be returned but don't be surprised if it takes a while.

ZOS refund at once, I have worked with payment systems and know how they work. In short they are not allowed to sit on the money unless they have an reason, rental car agencies and hotels sit on the money as security for damage.

Banks and credit card companies on the other hand love to sit on the money for days and collect interests after they are refunded.

ZOS charge the full amount to reduce frauds including bots.
If you could buy 100 copies from ESO from an random shop with an stolen card and then play for an month before getting kicked

Most likely you will get charged the full amount so pick the cheap sub plan while it performs it's check, then cancel the sub any time. It may not be returned immediately so don't freak out as it will be refunded. If you are at the point where activating $13 on your card means you cannot pay rent then I suggest not playing a sub game.

As the quote above says it helps with bot tracking so be glad it is there
