Think we need a place for general discussions unless we already have one and I have some how missed it.

We do not currently have a General Discussion area. That said, we understand that many of you would like to see one, and are considering the option. Keep in mind it would be to discuss ESO in general, and would not be an off-topic discussion area.

Definitely. An off-topic discussion area would be nice too.

And perhaps a more traditional forum layout would also be quite welcome

Yup, we're actively discussing ways that we can improve the current forum layout.

It's just that it's kinda strange to have an "general discussion" area on the "New Player Questions".

Please do sort out the forums. A General Discussion and an Off Topic area would be amazing, thank you! Also can you make the Dev Tracker language specific and not show the whole post please? It's hard to find anything relevant with the way it works atm. Cheers.

Improving the forum layout wouldn't be hard compared to what it is now. A toddler could manage that..

Or well, perhaps not a toddler. But the default layout for most forum software looks better than the current layout. And how hard can it be to filter out german/french posts from the devtracker/recent posts as well as making a better devtracker that doesn't look like holy hell. Having the devtracker in columns just.. I dunno.. just makes it be absolutely horrible.

@ZOS_GinaBruno any ETA on when we will see forums improvements, a lot of the ideas were outlined early on during early access and had replies saying "we're planning to do that" or "that's something we will look into" yet not much has really changed.

The Developer Tracker really needs the love and attention we asked for and were told it might/would get.
The addition of a General Discussion and Feature's and Ideas forums to help clear the Customer Support section and keep that area just for threads about actual support.
Features and Ideas forums are a great way for the games developers to engage with the player base as well, you don't have to let us write the game for you but we're the ones testing the games ins and outs and know best what features we would like to see Dev time spent on for improvements.

I'm sure you're all sick of seeing me preach about the wonders of EVE Online by this point but their forums is far more user friendly than these and would be a great place for you to build inspiration on changes.

You could also adopt a strategy like CCP's of having a volunteer program for forums moderators, obviously people who will be kept in check and with rules of use but who could lock spam or duplicate threads whilst posting a link to the current main discussion.

I dont agree with either of you. Please dont consider a general discussion lol. Everytime one gets put in on any forum every single topic gets created there leaving the rest of the forums useless

Also please no off topic. Why would any developer want an area on their forum where someone can talk about great another game is. I also dont come here to discuss last nights episode of game of thrones lol.

Yes please don't add a general forum. Let's instead keep posts cluttering up support or other forum sections. Why would anyone want to talk about general ESO related things that do not fit in any specific category. I mean, who needs a a sensible forum layout or sensible categories anyway.

I would disagree with you statement. General Discussions forums are an area for players to make a thread which doesn't fall in line with categories elsewhere. If a thread isn't about a build, skill line, trade or guild there should be an area for it which doesn't get in the way of other specific thread categories.
Let me again use the EVE Online forums as an example, you can see their general discussion forums here which has a healthy number of discussions about the game which are not category specific, they also have an active moderation and player volunteer team which move any topics which are better suited elsewhere to the correct areas.

Just because someone is discussing the events of another game doesn't mean that everyone is going to leave in mass to play that game. Pretending other MMO's don't exists and trying to stop forums members posting about them is stupid. Now if someone is actively posting sign up links or promoting people leave the game for a different one then sure lock the thread, but there is no reason why Developers should be scared of me talking about World of Warcraft's latest expansion.
Also just because you personally don't want to come to the forums and talk about last nights episode of Game of Thrones doesn't mean that others should be denied a privilege to do that, these forums might be the only community some people are members of and letting people have open discussions builds better stronger communities.
Once again a look over at the EVE Online forums, here you can see threads about the latest news and even an EVE Online vs Star Citizen thread. CCP don't need to try and hide that there is competition and you will in fact see developers joining in with threads discussing the pros and cons of other games.

If you have to priorize... Please for the sake of sanity:

Filter out/reduce in priority posts in other languages... It's quite cumbersome having to scroll through 2 identical threads for each one you want to read.

Users are forced to select a primary language to visualize forums... Please add options to the user panel to assign a default language to new threads and visualization options of currently unselected languages.

TBH, this is the 1st time I see a forum supporting multilanguage, forcing players to select one and then...

...Mixing all languages together on searches, trackers or even whole categories.

Like an AH in my opinion. I don't have any chat on because it is so bad, between the WTS/B/T and the gold sellers it's not worth even looking at.
