I am creating a new character on the Ebonheart Pact. I have the pre-order explorer's pack so I can create any race to any faction, and I can also create Imperials because I bought the Imperial Edition.

Race is not solidified in stone: In the preview I have chosen Dark Elf because of the Fire damage increase....
I know a few things set in stone: I have never played with a staff before and I want to try it...and the 2nd bar is pretty much set in stone.
Races I am contemplating are Altmer, or possibly Orc in addition to the chosen Dark Elf.
I am thinking of going 5 medium/2 light armor split...but perhaps 5 light/2 medium is better, I'm not sure.
Essentially I want to make an AOE build for when AOE is appropriate as some sort of Pyromancer...the idea was throw up the Blockade, Trap them with the talons inside of that, use the fire breath to make them take more damage then protect myself with the Cinder Storm with the miss chance, and also make them take some AOE fire damage then turn on the Inferno to finish them.
I wasn't sure, however about things like: Meteor, the Volanic Rune, the Elemental Ring, or Destructive Touch, Force Pulse....all of these seem in some way fitting to the concept and ideal of a fire mage just burning everything alive around himself.
The second bar is simple and to my liking of Barbarian/Fighter/Warrior (World of Warcraft, TERA, Aion, Dungeons and Dragon pen and paper...) just Charge in, knock them down and heal with fire whip due to the imbalance from the charge...then just keep knocking them down with uppercut. Execute when low. Pop the Magma Armor for protection and also to deal a bit of damage and lower their damage, and the heal when I need it (also gives stamina for more wrecking blows/executes). Simple. Straight. Effective.
Line of reasoning for picking Dark Elf: They compliment both Magicka and Stamina pools, and they grant more fire damage which benefits both of the weapon bars (Fire Whip and Magma Armour fire damage...and of course literally everything on the 1st bar)
Line of reasoning for Orc: If I choose to focus on 2h weapon bar first, the increased HP, HP Regen and Stamina is useful for melee, and general survivability. Also I sprint a lot so reduced cost+speed there is just nice.
Line of reasoning for Altmer: If I choose to focus more on the mage bit then this race seems to really compliment that line of playstyle.
The 5 Medium/2 Light seems to be 2h primary and boosting all damage there, increasing attack speed, crit, stamina regen, all very nice with Light armour to compliment the second spec...however I suppose if I reverse primaries then it would be logical to reverse the armour as well, yes?
I'm having trouble deciding on a "look" for the character, I was thinking Ancient Elf Medium chest, shoulders, pants, boots...(Like Razum'Dar) with maybe a Dark Elf Helmet....then Light armour Ancient Elf belt and gloves...not sure how this looks in game and unsure if I can preview it. However I do own the Ancient Elf motif and have a crafter that can use it.
Does anyone have any tips for focusing the build down, which primary to main and which should be supplementary, race suggestions, skill replacements or suggestions? Just playing around with the ideas, if anyone has anything similar how has it worked for you?
