THE BETTER OF TWO EVILS quest breaks immersion in so many ways

As a Dominion player I did not encounter this quest until VR4. I was thrilled to find a vampire quest line only to be severely disappointed as the vampires kept telling me I couldn't possibly understand their suffering ... but of course I could because I am vampire as well. I also had an issue with the fact that Majorn is described as an ancient vampire while his son isn't. Shouldn't his son who would have been born before Majorn became a vampire also be ancient?

Never mind the fact that they couldn't go out during the day or they would burn meanwhile there were hordes of low powered vampires running around outside.

Then when Majorn threatens me and says he could crush me, not really as I slaughtered him and his followers. I could forgive this is the story was more consistent in other areas.

Almost every time I get excited about a quest line I end up disappointed as the story either breaks lore or ignores other quests or situations that have already happened. It's seems obvious this quest line was written before they added Veteran Ranks and weren't expecting anyone to be a vampire when they do the quest. But it's these missing details that constantly let me down throughout the game.

I normally play the quests in any MMO I play as that is what I enjoy the most but here, they are simply a grind I have to get past so I can effectively PvP.

Ah well, back to grinding and clicking through the quest text as fast as possible on my way to VR10.

being in the Ebonheart Pact, i played this in my 30s... It didn't feel like a very strong questline to myself either. Sounds like we chose the same outcomes as well. I laughed at the "ancient's" power :disappointed:

welcome to the world of Elder Scrolls. things can and will be contradicted often because that is just how the Elder Scrolls works. its a game, you have star protection, try not to take things so seriously.

Uhuh. Go play Morrowind as a vampire and see how that works out for you.
Don't justify lazy writing and incompetence with "it's just a game". That's precisely the attitude that made Roger Ebert laugh at us, and gave us garbage like Mass Effect 3's so-called ending.

If we don't take games seriously as a medium for storytelling then they'll never improve.

I understand all of the "lore" folk don't want to hear this - but I agree with Asawasa. IT'S A GAME. I've played role playing games since the three book D and D set - which btw, whether you like it or not is the beginning of all modern role playing. Within a good tabletop rpg its well worth while to keep track of the world base and the stories, its part of the immersion - there is no and can be no immersion online -or certainly on console - its a joke. The author made sure to carefully have his former login id lined out so everyone would know he had left. It's pathetic. Either enjoy the games or leave them and don't play rpgs. If you like books, read them. I get so sick of seeing people treat rpgs as more than they are, rather than just enjoying them.

So you would object to having the game written in a stronger and more immersive way? Why stifle a discussion? If it's not important to you, why not just walk away? Some of what TES has done with vampires is really dumb, like the vampire expansion in Skyrim where the hero of the quests is a vampire, so you have to quest with her even if you're playing a vampire hunter. Take it or leave it is fine, sure; but there's no harm in wanting something better.

To be fair, she is one of the best characters in the game and the Dawnguard start off very hostile to her. So it's not just hand-waved away.
So they raised the floor and lowered the ceiling. Except the ceiling has spikes in it now and the floor is also lava.
