I'm use to the fishing system in FFXI(Final Fantasy 11). Now that is a VERY serious and complex set up! Squire Enix did an awesome job with it! All the many fish in the game can be used for something useful and you can make some serious in game money at high level with fishing. Anybody that has played or dose play knows what I'm talking about. I would love to see something like that in ESO or even made better! Make fishing actually fun and worth doing! I have so many ideas on what would make fishing awesome in ESO I'm not gunna bother listing them cuz I would be here all day. Main point is that fishing as is at the moment is seriously boring and completely worthless. Sorry thats just my honest opinion and I mean no offence!

Scroll down to the Coming Future Updates, about 2/3 down the list. They know fishing is lackluster, and plan to do something about it.
But list your ideas here or in game with /feedback, maybe you have thought of something cool that they'll want to include. May not come out with whatever they have planned, but if they like it they can always add it later.
I wish they would actually get rid of fishing completely. It's useless, but more importantly, the stupid crawlers/worms/fat worms in all their annoying, bag-hogging iterations are even more useless. And they take up precious bag space that could be used for something actually worthwhile, sneaking in there with alchemy flowers and useful mob drops.

Fishing wouldn't be so popular if everyone shared your opinion. Also they have stated that they intend to do more with fishing so that kinda blows your point up about it "playing as intended"

You think fishing is boring?? Let me send you pictures of my 150lb Tarpon I caught last summer or the groupers we caught last week end LOL.
But ESO fishing is a big yawn for real.
