I have noticed, after the last patch, that after playing for about 30 minutes to an hour my keys (when fighting) stop working and the only way to get them to work again is pressing ESC twice. Once this issue starts I have to hit ESC twice every few minutes. What would cause this? This happens with and without addons running.

I have also noticed this problem. And yes escape is the only thing that seems to fix it.

Try turning off sticky keys in windows. Also, you could try reinstalling the game.

I also have this problem. I'm a new account and started getting the problem after 2-3 days of playing. Now I get the issue within 30 minutes of logging into the game.

The escape key doesn't help. I can use the mouse just fine (Logitech G700s). but the A-Z and 1-0 keys respond like the ALT key is always on. I've unplugged the USB keyboard (Microsoft Sidewinder x4), uninstalled everything unnecessary, messed/reinstalled with kybrd drivers and kicked the wall. The last one gave the only positive result. ;P Rebooting fixes it, of course. Also, I can Alt-Tab out of the game and use the mouse to open up other apps, where it still doesn't work. I can open a command window and type a while... and sometimes it will fix it. As if it released the ALT key. I've gone into the control panel and tried different combos of sticky keys and such with no impact. Back to kicking the wall, I guess. Cuz I can't play the game.

    Thoughts?

    Hey there @rottiedog,

By any chance, do you happen to be running any add ons? If so, please give a shot to disabling them and let us know if they help. We've seen a few issues with add ons that have caused this same problem in the past.

If that doesn't help, or if you weren't running any add ons to begin with, please let us know!

I have had a similar problem.

With and without add ons loaded.

The first time I press L-Shift after loading the game I always get the steam overlay.

My older keyboard, also logitech, would do it consistently. The G910 just once. All as if the ALT key were stuck down.

With the exception of the Temple of Elemental Evil this is the quirkiest game I have ever played.

    Gotcha, thanks everyone!

One of the base functions that comes with windows is Sticky Keys, which basically makes it so that modifier keys are toggled instead of held. Sticky keys is enabled by tapping the shift key 5 times in succession, which we all know is a very realistic possibility in any action game.

To disable Sticky Keys for windows, head to Control Panel and then follow these prompts

Control Panel > Ease of Access > Change how your keyboard works > Set up sticky keys

When you're in the setup for Sticky Keys, be sure to disable the Keyboard Shortcut section completely to avoid turning sticky keys on, and of course ensure that Sticky Keys are disabled.

Let us know if that helps, and if not we'll be happy to continue assisting you!
