Dark Mane peoples quest line

So i already decided who was going to stay in the tomb as the Dark Mane and who was going to lead, but i hadn't already done the The Fires of Dune story line. The Dark Mane fella that i killed is roaming around as well as the lady that i basically locked away...
intended or is the markers for quest sequence not there? Thanks
