Adding tactical depth to the AvA combat and reducing the lag in Cyrodiil

IMHO, the game misses some long duration AoE CC spells.

- These spells could not be self purged
- These spells could be purged by a team mate
- These spells would have a very long range and a large Area of Effect
- These spells would require a short cast time (about 1 second)
- These spells could affect at least 20 enemies
- The CC effect would have diminishing returns

These spells would add a tactical dimension to the game

- People would have to split on INC
- People who can purge would have passive abilities to reduce the duration of the CC effect.
- These CC spells would act as an anti-bomber-zerg system
- These CC spells would allow a small group of players to down an entire raid of people

These spells would have a very positive side effect to the server lag in Cyrodiil

- Currently bomber-zerg raids cast many AoE spells in a very short period of time, leading to huge peaks of computation and transmission of data, and therefore causing a terrible lag
- When people are under the effect of a CC spell, they can't cast anything - with such spells in place there are obviously less data to receive, compute, and transmit.

Conclusion

Having powerful AoE CC spells that cannot be self-purged would be a great addition to the game. They would increase the tactical dimension of large raid combats in Cyrodiil, and they would act as a very simple system to reduce the lag as well.

These CC spells were in place in DAoC, a game that is still considered today as a reference in mass PvP combat. And I strongly believe that these powerful AoE CC spells were one of the most important success elements of the RvR in DAoC.

I disagree on the "cannot be self-purged" part. In such a situation it is hard to know what kind of CC even hit you, so you have to try to CC break /dodge roll repeatedly in order to find out whether you got a root or a stun already now. Adding on top of that stuff that you cannot break out yourself makes the situation even worse.

If every CC can be self-purged, then they are about useless.

A special graphic effect could be implemented to show when one is affected by a CC that cannot be self-purged.
