ESO Has Become a Laggy Joke

For the past 4-5 days ESO has gone from it's 'normal' operating mode to a mode characterized by extreme, constant lag. I will routinely see my ping jump from between 20-50ms to well over 1500ms for prolonged periods of time. These lag jumps have made playing ESO literally impossible as combat is near unresponsive and delayed the entire play period for these last 4-5 days. I have never played an MMO that had multi-day lag problems that literally made it impossible to play it.
Even this website is characterized by extreme delays and lag now (4000ms+), which was not the case around 6+ days ago.
No other program or website is performing equally or even remotely as poor for my connection as those hosted by ESO.
