I bought my husband a pc and an account for eso, but when ever we are online we can not find each other even though we are in the same area, please help. Both are in NA server.

Hit 'O' and go to Contacts, at the bottom center of the screen click 'Add Friend' or so (not on so going from memory).

Type their account name in there with @ in front of it. Like @Sarenia for example. You can input their character name alternatively.

If you mean add them to a group, right click their name in chat (I think you can also do it in that 'O' window) and invite them. Alternatively, if they're nearby, target them and hold F, then select invite in the popup radial. Lastly, I believe you can use '/invite character name' in chat to invite someone but never tried.

After you add them as a friend you'll need to use the 'Travel To Player' option in the menu you get if you right-click their name in the Friends list: note that simply grouping with them is not enough, it simply gives a Travel to Party option in addition to the Travel To Player you'll still have to use one of those Travel options to actually get to them.

Note that this means you'll both have to be on characters in the same faction and the the character doing the traveling will find themselves teleported to the nearest Wayhshrine to the other character, they won't be placed right where that character is: however, you can travel to somewhere you've not been before, which is silly as it allows for the 'bad buys' to access areas level 3s shouldn't have access to, but that's another issue.

By "same area" do you mean the same zone or that you are actually standing together but can't see each other? There are different instances of the same zones and when you group up one of you may need to use the "travel to" option to be swapped to the other person's instance. This will put you both in the same instance.

Bear in mind that some areas look and act differently if one of you has completed an important quest there and the other has not. If you are both at different stages of that quest, one of you might see (and be attacked by) mobs, whereas the other won't see any hostiles at all because they've completed that quest. All you'll see is a marker on screen showing where your partner is in his/her version of that particular area.

Wow, aren't you the perfect wife! :)

Hope you get it sorted and have fun... remember it is hard to get into the same instance (as others have said). My brother and I rolled toons at the same time and just play those together to make sure we can play together. :D

Just to note that it is hard to group up initially at the start as the controls are a bit odd and the explanation is not shown very well, after a few levels it will be second nature so don't get too scared :P

I think you have not been on the internet long enough until you have been rick-rolled.
