To the new player,

Many of us big time Elder Scrolls fans got to beta test this game. We loved it. So much so we screamed for it to be released as soon as possible. We even told them we could deal with the minor bugs, game-play balancing etc, etc, while they continued to work on it. We just wanted to play it and most of us feel it was smooth enough to be released. We said we would be patient if ZOS could let us play now.

With that in mind, you might hear many people putting a lot of effort into adding they're suggestions and giving feedback into the game via the forums. However, you will also hear many people who were not a part of the Beta testing team either trash talk the game or make unkind remarks about the people who make this great game. You will hear from people who rush to get to the end game only to find out that they might have to wait a bit for the game to sort out issues and catch up. The game has only been out for about 5 weeks or so. It should come as no surprise that you wont get 10 years of refinement in the first month.

My advice is to play the game and if you encounter an issue, then by all means, make it known in a positive and constructive manner and it will be addressed. As a beta tester I can attest that they do in fact care about us and if they can make an idea or suggestion work, then they will at the very least consider it. We have talked about improvement and fixes and ZOS has heard us and are making some exciting future patch updates.

So, to finalize my thoughts; Play the game for yourself, don't get in a hurry, just relax, the game just came out and it's only the beginning. Don't let others negativity or immaturity ruin the game for you.

You play your game for yourself and make your own mind up. Hopefully I'll see you in game!

Very Respectfully,

Me.

Thanks man, appreciate it. People often forget they were new on this game. Im from Beta myself. I like to think any knowledge I can pass down to new players in this game, they too can continue the cycle and help out other new players.

Oh, and I also forgot, to the new players, if you're going to use add ons, I suggest eso head. http://www.esoui.com/addons.php

I also further suggest the Minion client, especially if you're a mac user. For now, it is in beta, and it will update the add ons, you just have to manually do it by clicking the auto update off and on.

New players, this is certainly one approach but I ask that you instead have a fit about every large or small issue and post them all in these forums. While this game did not turn out to be what I was looking for, I will say that these forums have turned out to be priceless entertainment.

You covered a great deal of it. Big thing I stress to my friends that play is to play it like Skyrim ( or the other single players) when it comes to the leveling. It's hard to come from the traditional mmo leveling where it's all about fly through it asap and carryover that style to here. The pacing is much different and so different at veteran levels that it will burn you out. So I can't stress enough to enjoy what you are doing at what ever level you are doing it at.

Really you tell people that just bought the game this . LOL Is you craaazzaayy. When you go to ANY website or store nowhere there or anywhere for that has a sign that says "YOU ARE BUYING A 3 QUARTERS MADE GAME PLEASE HOLD TIGHT WHILE WE COMPLETE IT". Come on what have we come to as gamers when we accept this crap.

Like I said all along they released this half ass'ed version so we could do some real beta testing to get the console version as ready as they could.

I've been playing since first day of early access (plus was in beta) and still haven't even gotten to VR. I am lvl 45 at the moment, have over a week in /played (over 170 hours) and still loving it. No rushing, I never rush in MMOs but here I especially not.
As others said, just take your time, explore, read stuff, talk to NPCS even if you don't have to as they have no quest marker pointing to them. If you are the rushing type, though, well be prepared to having to wait a bit for more content and complaining won't bring the next patch closer.

I'm a huge fan of The Elder Scrolls and I enjoy this game but you have to ask the big question.

Will people pay to play this game?

I believe the answer in the long run is no even though I wish it was the opposite. It's a single player experience, you can play with others but they aren't even going to have the same weather system as you do on your screen amongst other things. Aside from the bugs and other glaring problems... unbalanced PvP, nerfs, no global Auction, No endgame, Tedious VR1-10 soon to be 12 grind. Loot system etc. etc.

The game just wasn't ready for retail. How in the year 2014 can you release a MMORPG that doesn't allow you to dye armor? It's a unique experience but I don't believe it's enough to keep people subscribing for any amount of time. I guess people kept subscribing (throwing money) at the train wreck called Star Wars Galaxies even after they burned it down.

All MMOs are a constant work in progress, thats why there is a subscription fee. If you want a finished game, then you play a single player game. I'm sure they could go broke delaying a game with 10 years worth of refining. MMOs are too big and complex to put that much time into it without getting an income. I'm pretty sure MMOs are pretty costly and time consuming to make, most likely, more than I could know.

Look...from my perspective the Game is not bad...it is not overly inventive either. Quite honestly...it is what I expected it to be the first few months.

However, some things I have not expected and I daub the Beta Testers expected them either.

The total unchecked invasion of a Bot army. That is almost a game in itself. Yes, something certainly is being done... however, all we have seen is a relocation of Bots. And that despite thousands of accounts being banned there are still tenth of thousands bots in the game. What is going on? Did the Beta testers and the Developers anticipate this? I do not think so.

Yes, Class balancing issues are to be expected in any MMO and certainly over time these issues can be sorted out. No problem. However, to force every class in a Magicka forced play-stile because all class-skills with out exception are Magicka based? This has nothing to do with Balancing issues...this is (in my opinion) is bad design. And there is much more...

The game has more good points than it has short-comings, however, to label people pointing these things out as whiners and trolls and whatever certainly is not justified.

Yes, the game is NOT bad...however, it has many weak spots that need to be looked at and improved. If everyone just shuts up... well, you know the routine. It just takes the good people to be silent and patient and to do nothing, to have nothing done.

I for one like the game and will not be silent...until they throw me out of the door.

Have a wonderful day playing ESO. Say hello to the Bots.

Well I'm not here to debate anything really. Not sure why everything has to be a debate.

I'm just here to give encouragement and then some people kinda want to take away from that, whether they mean to or not. So if someone reads my post and the positive remarks from others, then sees a bunch of horrible remarks, then it makes it seem like this game is just infested with horrible people.

I'm just saying, if someone needs some help or has a question, I'll do my best to help.

Honestly, I'm tired of apologizing for new MMO's. Yes, no one should expect 10 years worth of content for endgame. HOWEVER, we should expect more than "newgame+".

There were way too many issues that carried over from the last 5 betas that were never addressed in the release. I know that every MMO launch is going to have bugs, but not nearly this many.

There was no preparation done by ZOS to control for the bots either. Yes, there will always be bots, but that doesn't excuse having 0 controls in for it.

I'm glad your trying to help new people, but in all honesty, the best help you can offer them, imo, is to tell them to come back in 6 months when ESO should have been released. This was probably the worst launch for any MMO I've seen in recent history.

I did not label everyone a troll or a whiner tho, I specified there are people giving out suggestions and feedback. I also pointed out that there are those also that act less than civil in forums too. The issue with the bots is not really my level and was not something I encountered during my testing. I knew they would come, but thats something the developers will have to work on themselves.

I'm just trying to keep the spirit up when there is so much negativity going on. Wars were never won on negative thinking.

I just report them and drive on, but it certainly wont keep me from enjoying this game. It'll be fixed eventually. I think we made our point clear. It's a fight against organized cyber crime, so you know it wont be easy. I've wrote emails to the BBB, and the FBI cyber crime division to at least make aware of a known issue. Before anyone tells me that they wont do anything or that nothing can be done, to that I say, not doing anything at all certainly wont change anything. I personally wont stand by and not take action against them. I did what I could at my level. I explained all about bots (to fraud, FBI, BBB sites) and that they are the biggest crooks and data thieves to ever fly under the radar.

Yet still this is the trend of many AAA titles released by big publishers now days. Also every gamer knows it, doesn't want to believe it and every time pre-orders and gets pissed when there is still bugs.

Only if people stop thinking "maybe this time it's different" and just wait half a year before buying the game it would really make difference. Firstly the game most likely would be actually pretty much bug free once you buy it, 2nd it would show to the big publishers that maybe it is not profitable to rush the release.

Honestly, what pains me if when people find something very minor.
'I cant get this achievement its bugged'.
They take this issue to the forums, swearing and moaning in every thread they can.
The server goes down we get hordes of new updates, loads of bug fixes.
But they proceed then to complain that the servers are 'down' like they crashed or something..
Then if their minor bug does not get fixed, suddenly they want their money back and are threatening to cancel their sub.

Honestly, if I were ZoS, and somebody acted like that, I would shuffle their problems down the priority list, and do something for a player who isn't immature and patient.

There are also the people who complain because ZoS are not answering them in the forums. so clearly they do not care about the issue..

Well this is because ZoS don't have something to say about every little thing like the player does.
Also just because you post something in a thread, doesn't mean you actually read, the opposite is true too.

And ending on a positive note, anybody in beta would have noticed how in a week of people asking nicely. They added NPC collision.. 1 week of positive and constructive feedback, and they do that for us.
    DO NOT forget that.

Can I add that it is my belief that many of the so-called 'bugs' actually aren't bugs at all, but a lack of understanding of how the game works.

Oh and as I would say of every game, not just MMOs, leave your expectations at the door on your way in.

ESO was a bit of a slow-burner for me and the way they set new characters on the mainland and not the starter islands was ill-thought in my opinion - hopefully they will revert this back to starter island with an added option to leave immediately, rather than the clunky and confusing option they have now.
