Halls of Torment quest - chose wrong companion

I chose Lyris as companion for this and it was a mistake. I should have chosen Abnar Tharn since at least he likely will stand back and not get hit with every single aoe. Most quests if I choose the wrong path Id abandon and rechoose, but no you cant do that with the main story quests. That blows.
