Maximum Skill-Ups from Bookshelves

Are all the skillups from bookshelves capped at a maximum of 5? Or so some have a lower cap? I heard somewhere that Enchanting is capped at 3 skillups from bookshelves and I don't want to waste more time clicking on books if I can't get anymore from them.

There is no cap on skill-ups. There is an artificial limit to how much inspiration/XP one can get from books, due to the finite number of books on the world. But that can change as books are added.

On my main character I stopped getting skillups from books ages ago, before I even hit veteran content (I'm vr10). The skill lines that I never touched like Alchemy, Dual Wield, Bow are all at rank 6 (started off at rank 1 plus 5 skill ups from books).

On my Enchanting alt, I have been doing bookshelf runs in multiple locations for the past couple days, and have also hit a point where I'm no longer getting skillups from bookshelves. Again, most of the skill lines that I haven't touched are at rank 6 from five bookshelf skillups. However, I have only found three Enchanting skillups and three Class skillups on bookshelves.

Also, it's not Inspiration/XP you're getting from bookshelves, it's a 100% exp level up. For example, if you're half way through rank 20 in a skill line and read a skill bookshelf, you'll be halfway through rank 21.

People have already verified that books grant XP/inspiration, not a full level. And by VR, you've probably read most of the non-lore books in the world. Which is why you generally stop seeing skill-ups from books before you hit VR1.

I think there's a difference in the amount of titles available per skill that grant a skill up. At least I've got some weapon skills at 10 and never touched them. Untouched skills show 0 xp, so I doubt that it is any different with crafting, but can't tell for sure since I've been following all professions.

For me, it seems that each zone has a certain number of skill-granting book titles in it. As an obsessive bookwormer, when I first entered the fourth PVE zone of the Aldmeri Dominion faction, I was getting skill boosts on about one in three bookshelves. Made a killing, but I now must have gone through 30 or 40 books without a single ding, as I encounter new buildings and ruins i'm just seeing repeat copies of books I already read.

On earlier zones, I was less diligent seeking out bookshelves, and continued to get occasional dings till I finished questing there.
