Nirnroot

Nirnroot in elderscrolls was allways singularity, not repeatable alchemy super ingredient

now in ESO...

i got more nirnroot then anything else

why ?

because its not singular, it respawns.

because it makes a sound, you can hear it, the only alchemy ingredient you can hear

because it has an inner light, in the night you can see it for max range

so in TESO this most rare ingredient becomes the most common

I'm not a follower of the lore, but if I were to speculate based on the information you've given... All of us running around picking up easily identifiable Nirnroot in this era may contribute to why they won't be available in the later years / earlier Elder Scrolls games.

Oddly it was also supposed to be a relatively unknown reagent whose properties were being discovered by Sinderion in Oblivion and ridiculously useful. Now it's a weed with one use - invisibility potions. But for the record, it DID respawn in Skyrim.

in oblivion it was THE ingredient to improve skill value, THE only ingredient that could improve player values permanently

Yes, I was thinking this too. It is almost a weed in how prolific it is!

I was trying to think of the background story to it in Oblivion. If I remember rightly, the background story was that it was prolific but became rarer. Is ESO prior to Oblivion or between Oblivion and Skyrim?

Wherever it fits, Nirnroot is certainly not worth stockpiling as I first started to do.

Nirnroot made a sound and had an inner light in previous TES games.

It respawns because this is a MMO.

Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

Yeah, it is so annoying that I often harvest it just to make it stop xD

    Roughly 750 years before Oblivion.

Honestly, I find way more Water Hyacinth than I do Nirnroot. But maybe the OP doesn't spend as much time by water.

That's a lot of Nirnroot (and Water Hyacinth)!

In my opinion it isn't the most common, perhaps though, it is the most obvious/noticeable. From what I have seen, reagents spawn in certain demographic areas. Nirnroot and Water Hyacinth near water, mushrooms located in caves or in the shadows of trees/buildings, others typically out in the open located on grass of some sort, so for this to be your most harvested item you've likely spent some time near water.

Personally, I've harvested more Bugloss and Dragonthorn (the blue and orange stands out against the green grass) than Nirnroot and Water Hyacinth as I tend to explore the areas away from water, and that was before putting a point into Keen Eye. Although, I will mention that the majority of the Nirnroot and Water Hyacinth I've harvested was from the very same river during the same harvesting trip - by running up and down the riverbanks and harvesting nodes as I saw them. Might've taken me a few hours of harvesting, but it's the easiest reagent to harvest as I know the general location of where to find it. Doesn't mean that I'll only harvest them though as the effects aren't that useful for me other than the Restore Health trait on one of them. The others are more hit or miss as some can be rather well camouflaged into the landscape. Discounting the various mushrooms, Columbine is the hardest for me to find.

But yeah, I have to agree with Abeille - if it didn't respawn (or only spawned rarely) there'd likely be a Nirnroot black market (and it's making me chuckle thinking about shady alchemists trying to sell vocal, glowing plants).

For me, Columbine, Bugloss and Mountain Flowers (as they are need for the super potion) are rare. Once you find out their 'preferred' areas, I found tons.

If you walk waterways, you will have endless Nirnroot and Water Hyacinth. Used them to LEVEL alchemy, now I do not even stop to pick them.

Nirnroot in ESO has only one positive effect, which is "Unstoppable". Until they add ability to use poisons to the game, it is basically only good for that one potion of unstoppable.

I have to admit I still get a jolt of excitement every time I see one. Darn pavlov conditioning.

I am fine with it respawning, if it didn't there would be 0 IG in less than a week.
