Ultimate and ultimate abilities.

Okay I have some questions about ultimate 'points' and ultimate abilities.

Is there any reason why the ultimate 'point' randomly resets to 0?

Why does your ultimate 'points' reset when you use an ultimate eg. I’m using an ultimate costing 200 'points' while I have 400, why am I then using all 400 points instead of only 200 points and then having a cooldown before I can use my ultimate again.
Unless my ultimate gets stronger the more ultimate 'points' I spend on it, but so far I've only seen 1 ultimate telling you it gets stronger like that so I assume most do not get a boost from using more ultimate 'points' than required.

These things kind of makes me just use my ultimate on a whim and I most of the time never have that ultimate I’ve been saving for “a rainy day” when I need it, makes me kind of want a normal ability I can count on instead of some ultimate attack that doesn’t help because it’s not ready when I need it, only when I don’t need it.

Now I would like to discuss what I would like my ‘ultimate’ to be like.
  1. Only ultimate abilities when a description that tells you the more ultimate ‘points’ used the stronger it is.
  2. Ultimate abilities only cost what they are supposed to cost unless (1).
  3. Having a cooldown between using the same ultimate on (negotiable obviously) one minute and between different ultimate’s thirty seconds.

So I know ulltimate is not a synonym for reliable but right now I do not see the advantage I have with an ultimate than I could have with 6 normal abilities and THAT is quite the problem IMO.

    Some ults don't use all your ultimate points. Overload doesn't.

    Right I forgot about the toggle to activate ultimates, but that might be because they work like I want them to, the others well... didn't

    I never seen the ultimate counter randomly resting. The reset to 0 when you use a skill that cost lower than what you have is for balance. If it didn't reset one could in theory hoard ultimate points then spam some incredibly powerful attacks. ex Incapacitating Strike x8

    A random reset to 0 happens all the time for me but I don't know if it's a bug or what it is.
    Instead of resetting the ultimate 'points' to 0 when using an ultimate why not give it a cooldown like I suggested in the OP? yes it would make you able to use ultimates more often than now but with the already random reset to 0 you (read it as "I") already use the ultimate so rarely it doesn't even matter if you have it or not.

    On the topic of cooldowns.
    There isn't any word that I despise more in in action RPGs. I would prefer that the game remains about resource management for everything,

    Is the cooldown dislike only for skills? - as potions and food have cooldowns too.

    I would also rather have it just be resource management but getting 1000 ultimate 'points' and using everything on a 200 ultimate seems rather dumb, but there should still be a work to avoid spamable ultimates which is where the cooldown came from.
    I would love to know yours (and anybody else's) opinion on how to improve ultimate, and I do hope I'm not the only one not quite happy how ultimates work.

    About the random resets where should I report it, ingame?

    Usually when I login my dragonknight he has his ultimates reset to 0. Swaping bars resets them to 0. Sometimes they appear to get stuck and sstay on 0 even though they are abilities that require active use.

    My ultimates seem to be working fine, have one of 150 and the second of 200, and you can see difference when charging up one takes longer.
    Always assumed losing ultimate points was a result for being out of combat to long.

    This reset is best seen while the WW ulti is slotted as it needs 925...
    It´s really annoying sometimes.

    It can't be because everybody is fine with it right?

    Since the ultimate generation and the ultimate skills I used since now seem to work for me I think an improvement would be to have more options in ulimate skills and in morphs. I think they do what they are intended to do at the moment. They are either a temporary boost that can allow you to kill some enemies that you otherwise couldn't or as a last resort escape when you are about to die. I don't think they are meant be a reliable dps source.

    Well I would be quite sad if ultimates are only here as a "you have enough 'points' so here is some extra defense/healing/DPS" instead of being used as a part of a larger strategy. And yes I also think we could use more ultimates honestly as I only use 0 - 2 of the class ultimates in absence of a better alternative/more in line with my character 'style'.

    More morphs would also be nice but that would probably be for much later when/if 2nd stage morphs come for all skills.

    It might be being out of combat for too long but the timer is really bad if so as I've lost my ultimate 'points' on a 5 min stroll and I've still had my ultimate after spending some 30+ minuts crafting in town, it's all too random for me...
