Not gonna do a full blown guide, but since I've yet to see any info online about the nice named loot available at endgame, figured I'd at least post a teaser to get more people interested in the VR dungeons.
Feel free to take these screenshots and put them on an appropriate wiki. Not sure which one is most popular for this game yet.
Why VR dungeon loot is worth a mention:
Prior to VR Dungeons, Every single named item I've seen has been 100% identical to whats available in random loot. (And 99% the same as crafted too - just lacking a set bonus usually).
VR Dungeon loot breaks that boring system, though it comes in two varieties:
- Common boss specific drop. These are unbound purples which are not any better then what can be crafted by players. They generally feature enchantments equal to a purple quality rune though, and with enchanting being hard to level, it makes some of them decent (The ones with good trait/enchantment combos).
- VERY rare bound on pickup purple drops. These come from any proper boss, in any of the 6 VR dungeons. The tier1s are VR5 and the tier2s are VR10. Aside from a moderate stat boost, they don't differ - and their set bonuses are compatible with each other (You get the weaker version of the mix).
- However it seems the weapons available in tier2 are slightly different then the tier 1s. While they have the same set bonuses (and are compatible), they have different names/types it seems. Not 100% sure on this, due to their rarity, but seems that way after seeing 3 burning brands (fire sword) in BC, and 6+ flamedancers (shock sword) in Wayrest (t2)
- What's special about the very rare BoP drops in general:
--Melee weapons generally have an enchantment twice as powerful as normal.
--Caster weapons generally have a double enchantment. (Often a damage shield + a life drain)
--They always have set bonuses.
--Only thing I've not seen drop is a shield. May exist, as these drops are very rare and I've only done some 100+ runs.
- I only took the time to screenshot what I had, but I've seen basically every type of armor piece, and weapon drop. Armor is always a 5 piece set bonus. Weapons are always 3 piece. (1-2 weapons + 1-3 Rings and/or Necklace).
Boss Specific common drops:
Banished Cells (T1):
- Fire Daedroth: An ok flame staff. (40 fire dmg)
- Transforming chick: An ok 1 handed sword (Firetooth) (40 fire dmg)
- Rillis: A crap 2 handed maul (32 unresistable damage)
Mini bosses drop blues. Jewelry, not very good as it's bugged, lacking traits.
Wayrest Sewers (T2):
- Harvester: A crappy dagger
- Lich: An ok frost staff
- Veraine and Allen:
-- Varaine drops:
Veraine's Deathknell (2 handed sword)
-- Allene drops:
Allene's Deathly Bow
Darkshade Caverns (T2):
Kwama: Due to exploiters, he has no loot, so whatever common he had is lost for now.
Globbulus: Can't recall. Wasn't good.
Tank:
Pincer of the GuardianTier 1 - any major boss rare bound on pickup drops:Burning Brand (Awesome 1H Firesword)Tier 2 - any major boss rare bound on pickup drops:Ebon Cuirass (Heavy set piece)Gloves of the Worm Cult (Light set piece)Flamedancer (Oddly it's a shock sword)Necklace of Sardavar (Tank neck set piece, goes with a weapon)
Ebon Cuirass upgraded to legendary, with a basic storebought enchant:
Note the set bonus is lower because I have it equipped with VR5 pieces. It actually upgrades to 173 health if you had all V10 legendary pieces.
(And yea, all the blue mini boss jewlery, and all of the armor set pieces are bugged: They lack any traits)
At least the weapon/jewlery sets seem ok.
(Though ideally everything would start with both traits and enchants, and at least the armor should let you modify the enchants).
Also finally found a good wiki that has most of this info in a nice format if you wish to know more:
