I don't really care about reviews. Basically it is someone with different opinions and priorities than me talking about what they feel is important to them. I think the only review that matters is my own and that is only going to be found by playing the game.

I'd like to add that I was not at all interested in Elder Scrolls (single player) nor was I really enthused about ESO. I am, however, now quite enthused about ESO and having a great time because a friend convinced me to play it.

So there's a review for you, I didn't want to play the game, but I did and the game now occupies some of my free time. I like the quests, I like the monsters, I like the graphics, I like the music.
Side effects of reading messages on forums can cause nausea, head aches, spontaneous fits of rage, urination due to intense laughter, and sometimes the death of your monitor or other object in throwing range. 72 out of 100 based on 42 reviews. in gaming terms that is slightly above average and a bit better than Goat Simulator.

Good for you. I don't care either about reviews, this is for people who are interested in them but only when they come from unknown youtube personalities and are negative

Did read it, agree with pretty much all of it I think. His talk of the questing "hubs" early on is almost exactly what I was just talking about yesterday in another thread - how it's different from its predecessors.

I like how people (including the ones who never played the game) comment on how unrealistic some scores are and they should be lower to be more realistic since they personally think it would be more suiting. This "it is bad for a fact as I don`t like it" attitude never goes out of fashion. Anyway, the review seems fair, finally one where I saw they actually wrote that the game will probably have less bugs in the future but all MMOs are riddled with bugs at the start.

lol this is the same forum that banned me for starting a thread highlighting the good in ESO. they claimed i was trolling and encouraging others to flame. No idea that posting what I find enjoyable about a game was...bannable.

Right on the money in my opinion. It's nice to see a review where you get the sense that they fully investigated the game. He made good points rather than just pointing out the few exceptions.

I really liked that he used a total score, scoring each individual aspect of the game and totaling for a comprehensive score. This stood in stark contrast to Joes review, which uncommonly seemed to focus on the exceptions.

I will consider this site for game reviews in the future. Well done.

(While I personally love the game I think it was just below an 8 at release but rapidly improving! )

Iam with the guy you quoted, if you're posting it for people who care about this stuff, dont you think they would be finding this already if they cared. there is some new review posted almost daily and honestly we are playing the game, we don't need to know whats wrong with it since we already do know and we already know how biased 99 percent are because its not a cop-op setup, since we are playing it we have made a choice to ignore the reviews so it pretty much ends up meaning OP that you are just trolling the forums.

    Good review.

The only things I disagree on are the scores they game longevity and social.

I'm one for making alts and leveling them in MMO's. I also like when that leveling takes time. However, ESO's VR system of going through the rest of the content kinda kills the longevity for me. Especially considering it is supposed to be story driven.

As for social....ESO is, imo, a single player MMO.

That and this review makes the story sound good....The story has to be about as run of the mill as they get...

All well, to each their own. Glad some people like it.

MMORP.COM reviews are generally well done and well thought out . They also re-review games after one year. The forums, well, you better just avoid them, it's a pit of trolling hate and despair

Not really, many people quoted MMORPG.COM giving 5 to TESO while in truth they hadn't rated it yet. So when they REALLY rated it, I thought it was time to correct that blatant lie. But you are free to think what you want

Forgive me for stating the obvious, but all reviews are subject to personal opinion. One man's trash is another's treasure.

I was actually kind of surprised to see Rift rated higher (8.24) than TESO (7.97) and WoW (7.76). It makes me wonder how much personal bias goes into those average scores. With both the Elder Scrolls and Warcraft franchises, folks either love them or hate them.

I joined Rift during one of their open beta events and stayed on for a 6 month sub when it was still P2P. First guild I app'd into and got accepted on the Guardians had potential, but the guild leader was ineffective in dealing with drama. I went Defiant and found what seemed like the perfect guild, experienced guild leader and members from both WoW and Final Fantasy XI.

I had a blast leveling my toons and running through dungeons on both factions... but just as we all started to get geared up for raiding progression, folks stopped logging in...

I am sure that the early fascination with the game wore of on folks and to be honest the endgame really did not have that "spark" that wanted to keep people playing. Not to mention, closing rift after rift got quite boring after awhile and there was little to no challenge to completing world events. Event for the opening of River of Souls comes to mind. It was pretty bad, folks that were there will remember how fast we zerged that thing. (I'd love to see a one time world event in a MMO where it takes days and not minutes to kill a boss, staying for the duration of it would be ridiculous, but participating in a meaningful way would earn players credit when it finally dies.)

Perhaps I am just spoiled by some of those epic moment's I was witness to in WoW.

-Group starts wiping on Netherspite in the last few percent in Karazhan and the Holy Paladin being the last one alive, bubbles, heals up and jumps into the blue beam to holy shock the boss to victory.

-After wiping on Lady Vashj for a month and making little to no progress, the guild finally has that magic moment where they pull everything together and down her. Tier 5 had plenty of those awesome moments for me.

-Pre-launch event for WoTLK, no faction city was safe for a week, zombies and player controlled zombies everywhere. Total chaos!

-Strolling up into Ulduar for the first time, god that place was amazing.

That being said, I hope ESO has some of those kinds of moments.

The difference in scores is explained mostly on different person reviewing different games. Hard to keep personal tastes off a review, as you said. A good review, you don't need to check the final score to know if you are going to like or not the game. A good reviewer goes into details of why he feels something. I personally would have given it 8.5 just because to me gameplay trumps polish, but he is honest about it

Wow, re-reviews? I'm doubly sold! The fact that they would do a re re-review of an MMO shows that they know and understand the way in which MMO's roll out. They roll out low and get better. The trick, that other reviewers don't seem to understand when it comes to MMO's, is recognizing the temporary flaws from the intrinsic flaws.

I can't fault them for the forums. The internet is replete with those types. As soon as they put on the ring of Gyges they turn into degenerates, then when they log out they remove the ring and play at being an upright member of society.
