provisioning items worth 0 gold now?

so, is that an intended stealth-nerf (there's nothing about it in the patch notes)? or a "whoopsie"?

in any case, it doesn't make sense, if you even bothered to loot the stuff in the first place you made more money by cooking & selling it, no one in his right might would raid all these barrels and sacks (which only drop cooking items) just to dump it at a npc - not even goldsellers.

meanwhile, VR1 is still dropping tier1 stuff (I know I know, supposed to be fixed in 1.1)

you seriously couldn't wait another week to put the nerf in 1.1 where it would be offset by the fixed VR loot?

They've been worth 0 gold since before launch.

Common items, maybe, but top tier items were worth a few gold an item.

I don't see any issue here, as it's meant to shut down 1 avenue resource for gold seller / bots. In terms of crafting food, some food items are very hard to come by, and some simply do not exist / drop (tomatoes).

I spend a little extra time going through crates, barrels, sacks, etc and if there is an item I need / want for my recipes, I take it. If not, I skip it and move on.

Tomatoes do exist. They do not drop. It is by design. They only come from a Provisioning Hireling and only after at least 2 ranks have been invested in it.

This is pretty silly I reckon, why should we suffer from not being able to make a little coin by selling provisions and crafting stuff because a small lot cheat in the game? Seems like the easy way out to me.

They should have a little value IMO

As a level 50 Provisioner, I have zero issue with this update. Ingredients are meant to be cooked, not sold to NPCs. There are far bigger real issues affecting Provisioner right now, such as the aforementioned lack of proper ingredients in VR zones, 2 different "jazbay grapes", certain recipes that do not allow you to learn them when clicking on them, etc.
Catches-the-Sun - Argonian Templar - Master Smith, Provisioner, Chemist & Tailor
Valaren Arobone - Dunmer Flamewalker - Master Woodworker, Provisioner, Assassin
Kazahad - Khajiiti Arcane Archer - Master Thief
    V'orkten - Redguard Swordmaster
Finnvardr the Frenzied - Werewolf Berzerker

The 2 Jazbay Grapes are different ingredient levels.

    Within; Without.

considering how easy it is to max provisioning goldfarmers are probably cooking it anyway for more money.

my main issue with this change is that you always end up with extra stacks of stuff you have no recipe for (yay faction specific recipes) or you simply find more of one ingredient then the other. I usually end up with 1-2 complete stacks of stuff from previous tiers - that's 100g per stack before the change. not much, but still worth something at least.
that's even worse while leveling unless you look up EVERY ingredient in case you might need it later. if they make ingredients worthless zos could at least improve the tooltips (or you use the sous-chef addon, but imo that's basic stuff that should be in the game)

right now there is absolutely no point in carrying extra stuff around because it's more or less worthless - and definitely less worth wasting a slot for.

Do you honestly think I don't know that? One is a normal high level ingredient, the other is a rare component, which is used across different level ranges for blue/purple recipes. As I said...2 different Jazbay Grapes. It's confusing & one of them needs a name change. It would be like Blacksmiths having 2 different iron ingots or Alchemists working with 2 different Bugloss stacks. Makes no sense.
