I think ESO is a great MMORPG and I'm having a wonderful time playing it. I fully embrace the design choices the developers have made in creating this different flavor of MMO. One that doesn't revolve around an expeditious accent to level cap for the game to actually begin. Here the game truly begins at 1, centered around a comprehensively cooperative open world PVE experience, where players can honestly play how they want.
There's no doubt countless hordes of players do not share my affinity for this new formula. This forum has been inundated with threads in strict opposition to the deviations from the norm. Those that welcome this new age of MMO have rightly felt threatened by the onslaught of negativity, fearing it might stamp out this fledgling effort before it even gets a chance to find its legs. We rose to the defense of not just the game as a whole, but the very legitimacy of the design choices that make it what it is.
As a result, this forum has become a war zone, where the front page lingers on bloodied and cratered. Yet the the battle is nearly ended. By now it's all been said, a hundred times over. It's time to let the bean counters tally the score and declare a victor. Those of us who support this new direction will remain and embolden it with our financial support, those that do not will move on with theirs. It will be up to the developers to decide if what remains is enough.
There is nothing further to be gained from arguing with those that insist on pressing the matter. They are taking their final stabs in the fleeting time they have left. Dodge their attacks and let them scroll off the bottom of the page into oblivion. For here, at the end of the beginning, it has come down to the very simple matter of will you stay or will you go, and for those of us who remain this is only the beginning. Let us put our best foot forward!
